Hi, I have been thinking about getting a slow cooker for some time now and have been watching this thread. I have now made up my mind and am going to get one, One thing though can't decide which one to get, the cordonbleu from Argos or the Anthony Worral Thompson one. Which one would you recommend? I am waiting with baited breath and a piece of venison that we found at the bottom of the deep freeze.

    Thanks :

demented - I'm new to this slow cooker thing having bought one 10 days ago. It's brilliant. I'm sitting here munching on a piece of banana teabread made this morning. Got the recipe from a booked called 'new recipes for your slo-cooker' by Annette Yates which I picked up in British Bookshop for £5.99 (RRP £8.99). It's got a great range of recipes as well as tips on how to make the most and get the best out of your slow cooker. Piece of brisket is cooking in it as we speak and if it's anything like the melt in the mouth lamb we had last Sunday it'll be lovely. Happy cooking!

    Hi icklejulez,

If you have a look in the The Complete Slow Cooker Collection in particular the section on Buying a slow cooker (which? & why?) you should find lots of recommendations.

    Hi All,

I have just brought th eHinari one pot healthy cooking slow cooker for £8. Its only small but is a good size for me, bf and my little one. its about 1.5ltrs i think and as im no delia and a gadget getter i figured it was a brgain and there may be a possiblility of leaving it untouched in the cupboard for a bit.

I've got the Morphy Richards 6.5 litre and it is plenty big enought to cook a whole chicken in and I always leave mine going all day whether I'm in or not.

  • Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and need to ask a few questions. Hope you don't mind.

I've had a family size SC for over 10 years. I wouldn't be without it. Now that the kids have flown the nest (we feel like the original Darby and Joan)and my original crock pot has a crack in the bowl, I feel it's time to buy a new one. My first question is "are the ones sized for 2 people worth getting? Or should I go for a standard size one and use the left overs to freeze?" Lakeland have a two person one at the minute for £19.99, anybody used it or heard reviews about it?
I'd be grateful for any opinions.

Getting a SC delivered tomorrow, I am so excited about it, even Next have them in their new winter catalogue, they must be trendy just now.

Daft question, I read earlier in this thread that you can cook jacket spuds in a SC, is that really possible, I thought that everything had to be cooked in a liquid? I don't have a microwave, but my DD loves jacket spuds, and if I tell her I can make them in the SC she will be delighted.
