debitcardmayhem wrote: »Hi , the disabling restart will hopefully cause the BSOD which will give you some errors and a message, put the message on here and also the bits like
STOP: 0xZZZZZZZZ (0xzzzzzzzzz,0xzzzzzzzzz,0xzzzzzzzzz,0xzzzzzzzz)
This will give a clue what the error is about. Also make sure she has no USB sticks etc plugged in .
Normally if windows gets a BSOD it reboots and often you don't get the chance to see the bsod, the disabling bit just stops windows from re-loading nothing else. Look here if you wish to know about bsod http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Screen_of_Death
Thank you again.....i will get back on here later when i finish work as she will be home by then with said laptop !! many many thanks0 -
Just another thought from a non-techie, my dear son said his lappy wouldn't start, so I had a look at it, and something just made me look in the cd drawer, once I had removed a normal cd, it booted fine. You need to switch it on to open the drawer or use a paperclip on the small hole to make it open. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
