Hi everyone,
I have received a parking ticket by MET parking services when I went to mcdonalds. I have a £100 fine but if I pay it within 14 days since the ticket issue date then they reduced it to£50. I only have until tomorrow to pay for the amount of £50 or else I have to pay £100. I went to CAB this morning about this but they can't help me at all and advice me to pay it instead. I even showed them the watchdog video but according to the advisor when she asked her supervisor that It will be best for me to pay the said amount which I think is a lot of money especially now. What will I do? Please help...
cab have no idea on this scam,,,just ignore everything you recieve on or behalf of this company,,just keep watching the ,,watchdog video for reassurance,,nothing can/will be done to you,, relax, chill, watch the footy,,ignore these clowns.full stop.0 -
Today we have received letter number 6 I believe - The Notice Of Proposed Litigation. I note that they use the word "may" 3 times and the word "if" once. This was for a Maccy D's parking charge again.
Today I spoke to a lawyer friend who told me that Watchdog were not a very reliable source of advice. Ho hum. Still not paying. By the way, loving the RED band down the side of the paper and the strangely official-looking chequerboard effect on the letter heading.
I see we now owe £150 if we pay now, but may have a "predicted amount outstanding of £255.00. However, I understand that if we ignore this one, it'll go down to £120.00???? When do these people actually stop?
What I'd like to know is a) Do they pay DVLA for registration details? And b) What if the registered owner wasn't actually in the car that day? This car was registered to my stepdaughter, but I was the one in Maccy D's for over an hour.
I do not EVER intend to pay this. In fact I DID indeed make a paper aeroplane out of the first one, as advised on Watchdog. Due to my fabulous aim, it landed straight in the bin. Which is exactly where all the rest have gone. I will let everyone know when LETTER NUMBER 7 appears. Meanwhile I will try not to lose sleep. Yawn...........................0 -
Firstly it was not Watchdog who advised ignoring the tickets, it was Tim Cary a traffic lawyer.
A] Yes if they are a AOS member they simply put your reg on the electronic link with DVLA they get your details and DVLA get £2.50! If they are not on the list they can get the same by a postal application.
B] Any implied contract they believe they have is with the person who supposedly parked the car and read all the terms and conditions and agreed to them!0 -
Thank you for all of you who took time to reply on my query I appreciate it so much. And from now on I will NEVER EVER eat at mcdonalds that's for sure. Good luck for all those who are on the same boat as me.0
