the display cable sits in the channel, usually under a few plastic tabs which keep it flush and save it getting caught. The tabs are part of the moulding, so don't break them off
You have to gently ease the cable from underneath those tabs, tweezers are usually good for this.
Also, you may find there's some double-sided tape or sticky pads at spots along the channel, which also help keep the cable in place....it won't be welded down......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
The cables are free, and the display cableis disconnected. it is the aerial cables, which go onto the wireless lan mini card, they have copper ends, and I am not sure if they are soldered on or not and don't want to break that?? Or do they just go into a hole on the card? DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

the ends of the wifi aerial cables have micro-RF connectors on the end, which plug on to the recepticles on the wifi card. USE THE END OF A SMALL FLAT SREWDRIVER OR SIMILAR TO GENTLY POP THEM off the wifi card. see the image here to give you an idea.

I am now replying from a dust free Inspiron 1501, in the end I just left those cables connected and the small connector at the side of it, a bit of a juggle but managed, and apart from the first try of clipping the keyboard ribbon cable in (hadn't come across one of those before) but second time lucky and fully working again. Thanks DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
