Do you say brought or bought when talking about something you have bought

The one that I notice most at work is people who say pacifically when they mean specifically. I don't understand how people are able to spell a word correctly but can't say it right. The Pacific is a frickin ocean (I am well aware I am now setting myself up for my spelling of specifically if I have spelt it wrong lol).If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

Bought, and I'm from dahn sarf, but I read a lot
My pet hate is 'should of' (written) instead of 'should have' or 'should've'

I think spelling mistakes and grammatical errors are understandable, but when people don't even know there is a difference between 2 words, and use them out of context, it really annoys me.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

For me, that fact that someone doesn't know the difference between them is not what bothers me. After all, people are only as good as their education and upbringing in respect of this and may not have found the courage to study English Language as an adult.
What bothers me most, is those who do know the difference, but still always get it wrong out of sheer laziness!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I'm interested in that OP thought this might be a regional thing. I, too, live in S'hamton (as they say locally) but come from South Wales (the well spoken part, not Cardiff).
I really enjoy living in such a multicultural city with so many accents but speaking with an accent is entirely different from sloppy speech, innit?;)0 -
I've seen several post on the housebuying forum where people say they have "brought" a house. I couldn't understand how they could get something like that wrong, I've never heard anyone say it "in real life" though.0

That's no excuse. I used to live in Essex and I know the difference between bought and brought.
And loose and lose and all the other lazy mistakes that people make because they're either too stupid to know it's wrong or too lazy to care or they're inverted snobs who aspire to sounding like a f@ckwit because they think it's cooler.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -
Bought
I have a friend down south who uses 'brought' and it drives me mad but I would never correct her
Other annoyances (pronunciation as opposed to grammatical) are:

My gripe is when people say "you was". Alesha Dixon used to say it on Strictly Come Dancing, i.e "you was great" but I guess someone had a word in her ear, as she stopped - a whole series later!0
