Espresso is absolutely right. I had the same problem last week with ZA before someone on here told me to add my router to the Trusted Zones. I've not had the problem since.0 -
Software firewall surely is an optional (unnecessary?)extra if like me your broadband connection is sent to a router with a hardware firewall
No need to install multiple spyware / malware apps as good online scanning available at http://www.ewido.net/en/ to provide a second scan0 -

Not true, as it will only protect from inbound attacks unlike a software firewall.

What other sort of attack is there apart from inbound ?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
If I wanted to control which apps etc had network access then I could install a software firewall as well0 -

Spyware type apps which send your personal info back to their servers etc. Why risk this, when you can have a software firewall running quietly in the background? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Trojans, key loggers etc... trying to phone home, send sensitive data back etc...
PC's that are being used to send spam etc...
Safety in layers. And different layers at that. A software and hardware firewall configuration is very effective. Plus a good software firewall (like Kerio) doesn't have too large a footprint on system resources, especially in comparison to how effective it is."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
