i cant tell u how much this thread is helping me. This mortgage marlarky does my head in and Im currently thinking of remotgaging with ING as it just looks so good. Ive been scouring the market now for about 2 weeks and this is still the best i beleive. I would be saving nearly £80 a month moving to them so think i'm gonna go for it.
Good luck everyone0 -
My remortgaging to ING went through extremely smoothly and I cannot fault them. Although I think that 5.39% is very competitive, I have a feeling that it might go up another 0.25% with the next base rate rise which seems to be on the cards, maybe next week. However, other lenders will also put up their rates too of course....but I think it's great that with ING there were no upfront booking / arrangement fees etc and no complicated tie-ins or such like.:beer:0

I've also applied and will be saving £80 per month.
The application tracking website system is excellent, phone support has been polite and competent.
I now have my mortgage offer to sign and i should complete in a couple of weeks.
So far, the process has been effortless! And zero costs to join or leave! ace0 -
Personally I have lost trust in ING through having a savings account with them. They made such a big thing in their advertising campaign about having a simple, competitive account but it's rate is very uncompetitive now and when asked why they weren't raising their rate they said that customers don't like to be confused with changing rates! Then they started a websaver product with a better rate that is linked to the direct savings account but I had to really dig around on the website to find it and can't make a direct debit straight into it.
So, if you do go for a mortgage with them, watch it very carefully and be ready to move if they do start mucking about.0 -
thats why i'll go to barclays/woolwich lifetime tracker. They won';t be messing around with the rate as it always tracks base rate, ING's one is never more than 0.9% above base so who knows what it could be in a year.0

It'll be interesting to hear from Jeanine if her re-mortgage has been finalised seamlessly to ING. If you have read my previous posts on this thread you'll know that I applied 2 months prior to the end of my end of fixed rate term and the 'easy bits' like the offer, valuation, salary checks etc were done speedily. The harder bits like contacting Chelsea for a redemption value for the date my fixed term ended was a complete and utter shambles! There legal team did not seem to have a clue about the process required to switch mortgages. I've sent ING an official complaint and I'm awaiting a response.
I've told ING to stop all work on my processing till I get a response to the complaint.
I'll keep you informed!

Hi jedeye,
Sorry to hear that your remortgaging to ING has ended in a mess. Mine did go through extremely smoothly and without any hitches whatsoever. It would have been completed in less than three weeks, but I wanted it to tie in with the ending of a two year deal with Coventry, so from start to finish was just 4 weeks. I must say that Coventry were very quick at sending the redemption statement to ING which must have helped the process. And I've just arranged my first overpayment:j
Do you think that it might have been a problem at the Chelsea BS with getting your redemption figures? (But I'm not trying to defend ING!!)
Let us know what happens...

is there much or any difference between the ING and the woolwich tracker .0

The sage of incompetance continues....... my complaint letter sent to the address given online was received on the 4th April by ING and I have been waiting for a written response since. I finally ran out of patience and phoned and it seems it didn't make it's way to the complaints department somehow!
The person who just spoke to me said they tried to call me but couldn't get through. I have an answerphone service on my work phone, home phone and mobile and did not receive any message. It's hopefully now gone to the complaints department and I'll hopefully get a written letter soon!
(Well done Jeannine in having a success story!)

We applied to switch to ING from Nationwide on 4 April, and so far all is going smoothly and quickly - house valuation, income check and title checked within a week, and redemption statement requested and received by today. Something they don't tell you on the site is that if you have electronic payslips, they want a copy of your bank statement showing the receipt of your pay - I was told this when I phoned, so sent both things in together. They seemed happy to receive a print of my bank statement from my online account.
Hopefully everything will continue to go as smoothly as this, but I'm keeping a close eye on things (the tracker's very useful) and intend to phone if I think some chivvying's needed...0
