ING Direct Mortgages - Flexible Variable Rate?

I'm beginning to become very impatient of the staff at ING Customer Services and their Legal team! They appear to be totally incompetent!
They are still have trouble with getting a figure of redemption for the end of my current mortgage with Chelsea BS. They claimed that Chelsea is refusing to send a statement till the 2nd, but phoning Chelsea they said they sent one on the 16th March and looking at the ING online status it shows me that one was received on the 21st March. After I said this I received all sorts of excuses: "the date on the online status must be the date where Chelsea refused", "the redeption statement they've received is out of date because it is from March", "Chelsea must be lying that they sent a redeption statement"!!
I was hoping it would be an easy move and then be sufficient to hold my mortgage over around 6 months whilst I pay off large chunks of it......

Sorry to hear this - when Coventry sent ING a redemption statement for my current mortage, Coventry also sent a copy to me as well, which was very helpful. Couldn't Chelsea send you a copy too?
Everything's gone quiet here too - maybe because I don't want to complete until 31st March - but that's only 3 working days away. I hope everything's okay...:rolleyes:0 -
Jeannne, what Coventry done was useful. I will try to get some details of Chelsea.
I just got a return phonecall from my INGDirect 'case handler' who says now that we can only switch on the 30th April [when my 2 year fixed ends on the 31st March!]. This is because Chelsea supplies redemption statements for end of month values....
I also have to go back to INGDirect customer services to get my value of the mortgage changed to the exact amount of the redeption value. This makes sense obviously but why can't they automatically do this when they receive the redemption statement?!?! I asked them how do all of your other customers know how much they want to borrow/redeem when first applying for the ING mortgage and they said the customer normally finds out!!!! I'm now going to pay 1 month of interest at 7.25%.0 -
You've got me worried now! I gave ING an approximate value of my mortage and assumed, as you did, that they would be able to match it up to the redemption value of the old one. I haven't heard that there IS a problem, but then I haven't heard anything for a few weeks. I could well be in the same position as you and have to pay a higher rate with Coventry for an extra month:mad:
Let me know how you get on...0 -
Well, latest update - just received a call from ING saying that completion will be on 2nd April (1st is Sunday) so everything (for me) seems to have gone without a hitch. I have to say that I have been impressed with ING and the whole remortgage procedure and I have no regrets about moving to them.:j
(Hope yours sorts itself out jedeye)0 -
This is my very first post, so wish me luck!
Have just completed an app for ING mortgage...did it online last week with partner, and have had now had it confirmed that it has been accepted (for some reason it was referred). Have just been finishing off the bits and pieces on the phone and they have just advised me that on 1st April the rate is increasing from 5.14% to 5.39%. An increase of 0.25%. It will increase our payments by just under £20 per month.
I'm just about to look on line and see if this is still a competitive rate. We went for this mortgage because we liked the idea of no set up fee and no other charges if we want to leave them.0 -
I do think that ING are competitive even with the rate rise. And you are free to leave without penalty at any time. My application went through quickly and smoothly - hope yours does too!0

they have already done the valuation (it's done automatically by checking databases I think),
Can anyone tell me if this is the case and they do their valuation without seeing the house? My house is larger than all the others in the street, it's a 4 bed end terrace compared to 3 beds, will this show somewhere if database info is used?0 -
As I said previously, this was so in my case. No-one visited and the valuation was done within a day or so of my initial application. This method of valuation is mentioned in the information pack which you can download from the ING website.0

Thank you Jeannine, I'll go and read the info pack now. You can tell I'm new to this malarky can't you.0
