I am not dishonest, but I am not always completely honest when it comes to shopping, obviously I don't shoplift but I have kept quiet when being over-refunded, I've noticed lots of people on here saying they've been given more DTD that they were entitled to and how many have spoken up? I'd be interested to know.....

I think selective honesty is more common than complete and total honesty i.e. I might not speak up if given too much money from the till but someone recently left a fiver change in a self-service till and I handed it in without hesitation because that money belongs to a person not a large corporation.

I 've posted this before in relation to someones(littlelost?) dilemna about this sort of thing but as it was on the night shift it may have been missed:

The 1968 Theft Act says "A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it".

It goes on to say "A person is guilty of an offence if - (a) a wrongful credit has been made to an account kept by him or in respect of which he has any right or interest; (b) he knows or believes that the credit is wrongful; and (c) he dishonestly fails to take such steps as are reasonable in the circumstances to secure that the credit is cancelled."

The act has been updated over the years but the principle remains the same.

Not judging anyone but making sure that individuals know where they stand and can make their own moral/legal judgement. HTH

I find this very interesting in the light of the earlier post where the poster overhead a manager saying not to change the labels on some sausages that were labelled at £2, but scanned at over £4, because they would make more money from those who are enticed to buy by the cheap label and then fail to check their receipt.

Wrongful credit paid to T by customer (check)
T's representative (manager) has full knowledge of this (check)
Fails to automatically redress customer's overpayment (check)

    Tesco, guilty as charged!:D

It's part of a Sumerian prayer of worship to the Goddess Ishtar.

(It's also part of the chorus to Psychonaut by Fields of the Nephilim);)
