A quick google shows that tampering with labels is classed as retail theft:

    Retail Theft
"...Statute 3929(a) defines retail theft as the taking of any merchandise without paying the full retail value required. This can include actually removing merchandise from the store, changing or removing labels and price tags or tampering with security tags. Retail theft is graded in 3929(b) based on ..."

Don't do it guys. It ain't worth it.
Seems to be a few newbies today going on about messing with barcodes. I would not try this as at the very least the store will ban you and worse case call the police. It is not worth it and not what this thread is about.
No offence to all newbies :)

Good luck to your DS for tomorrow I bet you are more nervous than him I know I would be. My DS is hoping to be in the same position next year.

Well done on stopping smoking hopefully you have passed the hard bit and it must be great to say you are a non smoker :D

I am really nervous for him, especially as he just wants us to drop him and go:eek:Keep forgetting he's 18 and not my baby anymore, mind you in my eyes he'll always be my baby;)Good job I've got a lovely long list of stuff to look for in the big T's there and that'll take my mind off him. I've got a humungous wallet of coupons, always seems easier to hit them when it's not my local:rotfl:

Ooh, Nikki that has come round so quick, wishing him the very best of luck. I bet he is very nervous. It is the awful wait after the interviews, though DD2 was very lucky and heard 2 days after one of hers which happened to be the one she picked in the end. But I know Cambridge and Oxford do keep you waiting. Hope his is not too long. :)

I know exactly where you are coming from, you should have seen OHs face when I told him we were going to have to bring our stash in from the shed for the winter. ;)

I thought I had quoted MKS, who said they had been banned from going shopping for 6 months, this happens frequently in our house. :D Don't think it's lasted more than 2 days though. :rotfl:

And now for a confession, I seriously overslept this morning after telling everyone not to miss the early bird. :o OH left extra early and DD3 must have been so quiet that I did not wake up and OMG I was so shocked when I finally did, I will have missed all the OOD sels in my store I expect Wool will have got there first. :rotfl:So I decided to have an early lunch and catch up on here and then go. :)

    Have a good day everyone.

I regularly get moaned at for going to T's a lot so I just say to my DH ok I won't go anymore:p Give him 1/2 hour to think about it and he realises what he'd miss if I didnt go and soon changes his thinking!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Tampering with goods in order to purchase them cheaper must surely be wrong?

The item has been barcoded to set the price. To knowingly remove a barcode to reveal a lower set priced barcode beneath would not be taken lightly if caught out.

CCTV cameras are everywhere and can be referred to if you are suspected.

    Is it really worth it?
    Just a quick word JJ,

I totally agree with you.I am honest as the day is long and would never sleep at night. But that`s me :)

surely this would be applicable the other way around- they are re-barcoding things to make them more expensive...

I wouldnt have the balls to remove barcode stickers. I get too paranoid about them watching me back and forward from the scanner anyway

Was hoping for a dtd on the Mcvities as I have a £1 coupon. They were stacked in 2 spots in the store, oe SEL £6 and one at £5.00. Sadly they scanned at £5.00.

Still managed to use £10 worth of vouchers though as spent over £25 so not a completely wasted trip!

The store reserve the right to change prices on the goods.
The goods on the shelf belong to them until the consumer actually purchase them.

I completely understand what you are saying though.

It is infuriating when we know the prices are set on the system lower on the original barcode (as in the salter scales) and the store re label them to reflect the true price on the sel. they do have every right to do this though.

They make so many errors frequently enough for us to patiently wait until the next one occurs. ;)
