Passed one in Wolverhampton today at 4p difference, 136/140?????"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Whats the diesel prices like in your area?
Lowest i have seen 137.9
Highest i have seen 144.90 -
Because it costs about 2 grand more to buy a diesel car and then we are ripped off at the pumps worse than petrol drivers.
Must be nice to be ritch.
Depends on the car, I'm a VW man, and the GTI costs more than the GTD, and with higher running costs and lower residuals, I would still opt for the GTI.
So the diesel Golf is onto a winner from the word go :cool:0 -

Most brands charge more for diesels.
The GTI and VXR type cars will always be more than diesels as they are high performace models.
Is the GTD the same spec as the GTI apart from the engine?0 -

Not really
the diesel is £670 lower in price, diesel is in a lower insurance and VED bracket, apart from that , then yes0 -

If this is true then it would explain why I cant sell my 8 year old Octavia diesel for £1800, as you can pick up a petrol Octavia and get a £200 cash back!!!!
Also what is "ritch".....oh wait, I see what you did there.
If you work out the pence per mile, then no, you are getting ripped off if you drive a petrol.

We are all being ripped off.
I dont think they can justify the price gap.
Also we are paying at the pumps what it was the last time the oil price was $130 and it is around $110.0 -
Diesel has gone up 2p in this area in the last week. Everywhere is now at least 141.9p per litre."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

Had the calc out
My diesel banger has a 50 ltr tank and takes about £70 to fill now and I get roughly 450 miles for that
I travel 40 miles a day to work and back home so I am estimating £6 a day to travel that far
thats about £186 ish for a months travel knock off a few quid for the weekends and drop it to say 150 ish
not too bad I guess.
Could a petrol do better ?
ps maths is not my strong point!0 -
16p per mile isn't too bad....the octavia was 12p and the 3 series i have now is 15p .
If the price of diesel went up by 10p a ltr then the price per mile goes up by 1p.
So if you drive 15,000 miles a year then you pay an extra £150 per year.
Not a massive price to pay in the scheme of things.
Maybe people should put positive energy into other things instead of moaning about how much fuel costs."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0
