You then have it for future reference. I also always ask for the full name of the person I am speaking to and record this along with the date and time of the call.
HTH.
I believe that it is okay to record your phone conversations for your own personal use. But, I understand that you should inform the other party that their conversation is being recorded, and you may be restricted from sharing the recording with any third parties, so a recording may have little value. TrickyWicky wrote: »Sure about that? - I got pulled over last year up north on the M55 for no insurance. I'd done the insurance over the phone that day but it wasn't on the MID.
Plod gave me a very hard time, questioned everything (repeatedly). Accused me of lying and all sorts until I drummed my answers into his head and explained everything in tiny little steps for him to understand.
By the time I was done with him he was demanding I get out of his car :rotfl: He told me to **** off when I asked for a receipt for being tugged but said he'd be in touch after making enquiries with the MID. I stood in front of his car and refused to budge without the receipt for being tugged. Needless to say he told me to f/off again or he'd do ME for wasting HIS time lol.
Short story? - I continued driving my car home and I had no physical proof that I was insured just facts.
I received similar treatment, pulled out of the outside lane of the MI in heavy traffic by a patrol car I'd just passed, the fact that by the time I'd got back to the hard shoulder we were 100yds from the junction re entry sliproad made re joining very interesting, they had to escort me back on with B&T's.
They said I had no insurance.
Now I'd never knowingly drive without but I supose we can all make a mistake so they got me a little rattled and the agression was unbelievable.
So much so that I couldn't recall the name of my insurer, apart from renewing automatically I hadn't had aclaim for about 20 years
.I knew the rough date the policy ran to and from and we were 6 months away from that. There were no issues of having changed details or reg etc
They said the reg didn't show any insurance on the PNC, and were warning me that they would impound the car.
Luckily I remembered who I was insured with and as it was mid morning they were able to call the insurers. There attitude was still disgusting at this point. But then it started to get funny. Directline asked the copper if he was the policy holder :T, she refused to talk to him. He had to pass me his mobile to get me to give them permission to talk to him:rotfl: the look on his face was priceless, even more so when I asked if the conversation was being recorded. She informed him I was ensured, and had been since the renewal approx 6 months earlier, it just didn't appear on the the system.
The whole point of this tale is that the change in attitude from that point was amazing, a look to each other that said it all, no apology, and just the excuse "well, it sometimes happens sir, now we are going to have to be very carefull rejoining the....".
Yes I watch the tv progs, they deal with scum on a daily basis but when a computer hic dictates the way they deal with the general public, well:(.
I complained, the 1st time I'd been pulled for more years than I can recall, but they got there revenge, a senior officer rang me back to apologuise, but at 1:30 in the morning:mad:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

I guess you didn't read the article properly. If you did then you wouldn't have drawn such a conclusion."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

At least you can swear back now.
But you'll be fitted up for something else now if you do though.

Quite a few years ago, my mate was pulled over by a really rude policeman who did a similar thing to Cyclonebri, after finding out he was insured he then became determined to find something wrong with his car.
My mate had a bit of a audience in the car and by the side of the road.
He asked the policeman if it was against the law to call him a C$%£, the policeman told him it was an offence and he would arrest him under law blah blah blah.
He then asked the policeman if it was against the law if he thought he was a c$&£, to which the policeman told him it was not against the law and he was entitled to his opinion.
My mate then said "In that case, I think you're a c$%£" he got a round of applause from the crowd and done for a bald tyre0 -

although to be fair, the driver has the responsiblity to pull over somewhere safe.
Copper should really have got out and asked you to go to a safe spot if it was dangerous.

Imagine trying to get out of the "fast" lane, accross the other 2 lanes and on to the hard shoulder in heavy MI traffic with flashing blue lights up your jacksie,, that was the real issue. I didn't, and the copper didn't know exactly where we would come to a stop. I probably took 400 yds to get over there.
The stopping point in itself wasn't dangerous so repositioning wasn't needed, but getting out of there and back on the carriageway, well:AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I did say they must be able to check but they said not.
If a car has a cherished number the police will definitely be able to find out off the police computer straight away what the original number was. I know this for an absolute fact. If you have been told otherwise it is incorrect. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.
