You are sacked for gross misconduct for theft, then you are economical with the truth when submitting references (possibly) Doesn't look good does it ? To anyone. Tell the truth, or it will just escalate.
  • Well its his choice at the end of the day, but I cant imagine many employers being that undestanding about stealing really. If he tells the truth at interviews then it will be incredibly difficult for him to get another job, unless he is being employed by Fagin or within a criminal capacity . If he lies he may get found out and he may lose his job later down the line.

of course he will get found out. You say in the interview 'I left as I wanted a change' or some other made up excuse then they write for a reference and even if it is just a standard one the reason for leaving is still put on it. Maybe the OP should have thought about that.

    Nope. Bit overweight though.

But the essential question is - are you a little bit overweight as a result of organised crime, and does the fact that you are a little overweight mean that like everyone else you have been bang at it?

And no, thank you for asking, but I have put in my aggrievance!

If it were me there would be no way that I would tell the truth.

I wouldn't have admitted guilt but that's hindsight. At least then there would be an element of doubt which might temper what the previous employer might write in the reference.

You have to get past the application form first. Would anyone truly feel confident of admitting theft and still receive an interview?

Tell the truth and chances are won't work for possibly a very long time. Omit details and take a chance. How many ex-prisoners find work. I bet its not many

    There lies the dilemma.
As surely as night follows day capitalism will come crumbling down. On a mission to secure a just and ethical society.

If I had been 'bang' at it, so to speak, I most certainly wouldn't be overweight.

    ;)
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

Instead of getting useful advice, which is why people come on here, they keep getting lectures from the holier than thou brigade.

It must be nice to be such upstanding citizens who never do wrong, which makes it all the more surprising that there is so much corruption around.

TELL your next employer you have been working at xyz for the last five years but tell them they went bust but you have a personal reference from the person who will do it for you....be creative as much as employers are..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

    Now let's see......

"Been working there for the last five years"........

"Find one that did go bust five years ago".........

So, if they went bust five years ago how has he been working there for the last five years?

    Oh dear.....

Very few people can lie anything like as well as they think they can - as you have just demonstrated!
