    Morning all

Wingo no we never did manage to get in the pie :( hate wasting but numerous tin openers and half hour later we gave up and had something else. We laughed about it but was so frustrating too.

Sheils glad you havent got any damage from the winds. It is still blowing here but not howling through our block like last night. It has caused a lot of damage across the country i think.

I remember reading this thread recently about how others can't get into the pies either - some people thought that you could ring Fray Bentos and they'll send you a special tin opener, but I don't know if that's true.

It reminds me of my student days - my flatmate and I took turns to cook the evening meal with her boyfriend and his flatmates. Most of us tried to produce something different as much as we could, but one of the boys only ever presented us with Fray Bentos pies with Smash, and Angel Delight for dessert.

Glad we arent the only ones who struggle Sue (although I have had them befre and not had so much trouble)

It ended up in the bin as was getting worried about metal shards getting into the pie after numerous failed attempts to get a tin opener that opened it all the way around.

Sheils thanks for number I am going to see if that is se as phone number off the tin. OH can complain he is the master of it. He has got us money back / off a few things over the years

Back again! I managed to get my curtain hooks etc, also did an impulse buy while I was there and got a new bath and pedestal mat for the bathroom in the sale. Other people impulse buy clothes or shoes and I come back with that LOL. I saw you were discussing iPads, we bought one for our DD for Christmas and to be honest, I really can't see the point in them. They're just like a large iPhone without the phone ITMS. It's early days and perhaps she'll discover more as time goes by, but from what I've seen I'm not desperate for one and I love gadgets, I'll stick with my laptop. Now my Kindle, that's another story, I love it.

Thanks for your take on the ipad & Kindle Sue. My older sons told me I didn't need an ipad but I don't have an iphone and taking a laptop about isn't handy. Tried checking my emails on kids ipods and they wouldn't load them. Will be happy to win any of them anyway but won't buy except maybe the Kindle.
Another lovely bouquet of flowers have arrived - will try and post a pic!

Nice to see you becki - hope all goes well and wishing you a Happy Lucky New Year!

We didn't get her one with the ability to roam (3G?) because she has an iPhone and we were told you have to pay every time you use the 'roaming' facility. I would definitely recommend a Kindle if you like reading. I used to get a very painful thumb from holding books open, but that's gone now.

Welcome spi-chick and good luck with your comping.
