Around the many MoD and RAF bases in my area I don't see any solar heating panels and on the news I do not see any government leaders travelling regularly or whenever possible on greener transport (other than for a photo op). The vast majority of military and government vehicles are mostly used in non-combat environments and under non-urgent conditions. But, paradoxically, much of the taxes including airport taxes raised will probably be used for wasteful means of transporting around people who are happy to exploit their rank and positions for purposes of comfort and convenience at the expense of the environment and the rest of us.
Solar panels are not cost-effective in this country. The rest of your contribution is absurd.Peter0 -

This is a pure and simple easy tax grab.
Will the extra £5 stop people flying
NO
So how can they justify it.
Tax Tax Tax
that`s all Brown can think of.
BA might well absorb the increase
the amount it charges for it`s tickets in the first place.
Micheal O`Leary`s doing a great job.
Ryanair are bad-mannered bullies once they have your cash. They care nothing for the global devastation they are helping to create. Obviously, you care just as much, but your children might wish you had been more thoughtful.Peter0 -

Ryanair have the most fuel/carbon efficient, modern fleet of any airline.
They offer the ordinary "Joe on the street" the chance to fly for buttons. If people can`t be bothered to read the T&C`s
it`s their own stupid fault.
£18 return to Reus or Girona including all taxes (just two I could mention)
how can that be beaten.
Great job Michael---keep it up.
If Blair really cared about global warming,he`d tell the biggest polluter to clean up his act
his US buddy Bush.0 -

Global devastation???!!!!
Aviation accounts for less than 2% of global carbon emmisions, and Ryanair counts for a tiny amount of global aviation. The tabloids have suddenly decided that flying will cause the end of the world because it sells papers to naive people who'll beleive everything they read. And it gives Gordon Brown another excuse to rip us all off further, when the tax they already charge on flights could MUCH more than offset all aviation carbon emmisions.0 -
I think that you will find that you have already paid this APD - please see my thread where I got this amount refunded as Easyjet tried to charge me twice for it....djl wrote:we booked flights on 16th dec 2006 would the tax rise be on the tickets?

Is this what the American economist, J K Galbraith called ' the search for the superior moral justification of selfishness' ?Peter0
