Pandora123 - I would love your singapore noodles recipe. sounds a great idea.
Last week didn't quite go to plan. We had some bad news on tuesday morning which threw me into a chocolate and white bread eating frenzy then i have had a rotten cold over the weekend so I didn't feel much like cooking. Poor OH has suffered rather!!! On the up side however, I played with my new pasta maker and made delicious tagliatelle and will make that a regular thing.
Anyway - lets try again this week
mon - potatoes, brocolli and salmon baked in oven
tues - sausages, yorkies, veg and gravy
wed - chicken curry and rice
thurs - salmon fishcakes and salad
fri - lasagne
sat - want to try out a HM version of takeaway need to research a recipe.
sun - roast chickenr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Penny-Pincher!! wrote:Just wanted to say that we eat quite abit of fruit and veg, but recently the veg is very short dated or goes manky very quickly. OH was popping to veg shop every 2 days and was becoming a pain.
We thought for a change to try some frozen veg and we bought some sliced green beans (88p for 750g), frozen sweetcorn (99p for 1kg) and petit pois (£1.33 for 1kg). Our basic veg is carrots and cabbage as these last well in the fridge but have been using the above frozen veg in the steamer and they are brilliant and taste lovely:D The above veg would last us for about 2 weeks alongside the carrots and cabbage, so about £3 per week on veg that wont go manky;)
We have tried frozen cauli, brocolli and cabbage but dont like any of them. We are going to try frozen sprouts this week and maybe the mixed pepperswe will stick with the above veg though and keep in.

we always use frozen sweetcorn, green beans and peas. I am never without mixed sliced peppers, they are so useful, and much cheaper and easier than using fresh ones. If you're in a hurry you can always throw together a stir fry using frozen veg, an onion and a bit of soy sauce. We don't care for cauli or brocolli or sprouts, but julliene carrots are a good standby.

we usually have sliced mixed peppers and diced onions & sliced mushrooms in freezer which we add to loads of meals. aldi also sell lovely button mushrooms in tins great for adding to meals or kebabs on the bbq:love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090
