Hi there! I am fairly new to the whole way of mseing and dfwing and decided that cutting down on grocery shopping definately a way for us to sort out our finances and get a bit healthier at the same time! We used to eat a lot from the freezer but feeling a lot better the last week or so for having HM meals most nights and a lot less junk!!
I am so glad I found this thread, all the menus are giving me much food for thought and ideas to take to the next family meeting tomorrow night!
Here are my menus for the week ahead!
Monday - Haggis, potatoes, veg
Tuesday - Chilli and rice
Wednesday - Baked potato + leftovers (eg chilli, tuna mayo, beans)
Thursday - Fish, potatoes and veg
Friday - curry/chinese - Date night (end of a very long month!!!)
Saturday - Spaghetti Bolognase
Sunday - Roast turkey, potatoes, veg, stuffing, gravy, yorkshires!!
I feel more in control already!! I made the Bolognase yesterday and its in the freezer, will make the chilli monday night after family home evening, ready to re-heat on Tue for dinner.
Wow, just hope we can stick to it!!

I came up with a good idea for meal planning a while back.
Monday : mince day
Tuesday: Chicken day
Wednesday: Fish day
Thursday: pizza day
Friday: slow cooker day
Saturday: pasta day
Sunday: roast day
That way I just have to get the mince dish idea sorted eg. chilli con carne, spag bol etc, chicken - curry, stew etc., Fish- pie, prawn stir fry, breaded fish etc, slow cooker day, just get a new recipe from instruction manual and try out, pasta and roast days self explanatory. You can swap days around to suit you, but you have a basic idea when you go shopping what you will be cooking each week and you don't have to repeat yourself one week can be spag bol on the mince day the next week it can be chilli con carne etc... Hope this helps even one person out there.Penny xxx

Hi jazzyjustlaw.
I'm afraid the vegetarian hot dogs are Sainsbury's own and the vegetarian meatballs are the Quorn ones. Not very OS I know, but we have to be in and out quite quickly on these 2 nights this week and I needed something I know is easy and will result in instant empty plates!
The pitta pizza are just pittas toasted on one side then the other side is smeared with tomato puree and whatever toppings we fancy and then grilled.
Vegetarian Spicy beef in yogurt. Serves 4
Fry onion and garlic in oil until softened, add 2tsp ground coriander and 1tbsp curry powder and cook for a couple more mins. Add vege beef strips and cook for a few more mins. Add approx half a pint of yogurt on a low heat and stir until warmed through. Serve with rice or noodles....it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

Well, its a while since I've posted here as recently my menu plans have just been going pear shaped. So I'll try again
- Roast Chicken
- Enchiladas
- BBQ Chicken
- Shepherds Pie
- Spaghetti and Meatballs
- Salsa Hamburgers
- Leftovers
This is dependant on me getting a roast chicken for 3 meals and mince @ 2 for 3.50 to make 3 meals. We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Right here goes for this week
