Public Sector Pension Strikes – A JOKE !

Just received a email from unison telling me that I need to make sure I join the strike.
What I'll be doing is turning up at work as usual and making sure I do the job I am paid to do.:www: Progress Report :www:
Offer accepted: £107'000
Deposit: £23'000
Mortgage approved for: £84'000
Exchanged: 2/3/16

Really?... so where is the figure of a £500m loss to the economy coming from?
Dunno. The £500million is anybody's guess as loss to economy.
My figures were based on wages saved.
Public sector paybill say £200bn pa.
Assume 60% of that is clawed back through tax/VAt etc.
Net saving of £80bn pa against national debt £1tr.
Only back of fag packet but it gives some idea.0 -
Ahh. Some wisdom at last.
At the present time, the gap between those at the very top and the rest is widening at a faster rate than for many years. Yet it is not difficult to find people who chant the mantra "we are all in it together".
Didn't we also used to have a mantra "Things can only get better" or was I dreaming ?0 -
Nah, policitians are only referring to themselves and their extoriantely wealthy friends when they say things like that.:www: Progress Report :www:

Ummmm, we do forgo wages when on strike...0 -
Sorry, but I don't think the public sector owes anyone a job for life just because they've trained to do it. That doesn't happen in the private sector and I don't think PS workers should be treated as a "special case"!
Well I have worked in the Public Sector for 6 years and have moved jobs 4 times - hardly job for life.
Also, I am paid below the average UK salary and have been on a pay freeze for the last few years.
I have been to uni and have studied for a professional qualification (Accountant), I signed up for one thing and am being told that I am going to get something else.
Btw - my counterparts in the Private Sector earn on average more than I do.
I also work 2 jobs as do many of my colleagues just to put food on the table.
Yes, I agree that in some sections there are individuals that do very little but I have worked in the Private Sector also and there are equally some lazy people there too.
I agree 100% with the strike tomorrow.0 -

You should be comparing like for like. So instead of comparing against UK average salary, you should compare against the same position, age and job, in the private sector.
As for being on a pay freeze, being in the private sector doesn't stop this.0 -

My OH does not mince his words and told in in no polite terms where he could shove his chat. He got a round of applause from the que of people at the station for doing it.
Yeah of course he did, that always happens at the end of otherwise unremarkable anecdotes.0 -
I dont see what all the fuss is about here. If someone wishes to exercise their right to withdraw their labour through a legal strike then that is their personal choice and no business of anyone else.
These people are defending a massive pay cut in their salaries, all be it the deffered portion of their salary.0 -
I too am striking tmrow. First time ever I have felt so strongly about something, so instead of sitting on my **** complaining I will be joining, just pray to god it is peacefull and doesnt get out of hand.Sealed Pot Challenge 5 #1440
