Just a tip. When you remove them from the bags to cook, you will see some very small - useless- potatoes remaining. Instead of throwing them away put them back in the bag with their original foliage (as undisturbed as possible) and let them carry on growing. Look again a few weeks later and you may well get another meal out of the bagI'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

is this a bag of seed potatoes, or a bag and you've put seed potatoes in, love to try this is it too late
and if not where do I get one from0 -
Ive just thrown a handful of spuds into a bag of compo.
They have been sat in the kitchen window for a fortnight spouting little green shoots.
They are sitting in the green house now, fingers crossed..............:D
PS. thats me with my fingers crossed not the spuds.....:rolleyes:To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -

Have grown spuds for the first time this year. Just had my first crop of earlies and they are delicious! Really easy to grow, mine were in containers, buckets, crates - basically whatever I could find. Can recommend them. Plus the kids love "firkling" (I like that word!).

Is it possible to grow potato's that would be ready for christmas or would the colder winter weather kill them off? I would love to freshly "firkle" some tatties for Christmas day dinner but I've never grown potato's before. I have been picking up some tips from this board tho. I think I would like to have a go at growing them in a grow bag.
