Hi Orkney I'd be interested in how the loganberry does -I am tempted to try tayberries up the far end of the garden but the sheep might have sweet teeth ! It's just so COLD that nothing in the garden is moving at all. And I dont blame them.
Sure, I am so excited about them all that I will no doubt be updating on a daily basis!! Apparently loganberries grow quite well in Scotland. Am planning to keep in a pot, gradually moving to a bigger one, for a good while before the actual garden.
Anyone grow gooseberries ? Was tempted to buy one of those too but resisted for now!

    Hi again.
Well I got some tatties and ended up planting in a tub instead of growbags- a nice big tub though :) Also planted shallot bulbs, beetroot seeds in pots and transferred my loganberry to a big tub too :) Stuck some short chunky variety carrot seeds in the ground. Also planted tom, cucum, pepper and lettuce seeds in little propagator type things (lid and base), used seeding compost in here. Put my basil and pak choi in a bigger pot each too.
Hoping something grows. Also thinking to plant some spring onion and neep seeds in pots too.
Thanks for all the help, fingers crossed we get something back.
(Sorry lots of also's!). So excited about it all :):)

I have tried to grow my first lot of potatoes in bags, and now they have reached the top of the bag, I can't earth them up anymore. I planted them at the end of May.

    What do I do now????

Leave them, keep them watered if by some miracle the rain ever stops and wait. Once the foliage starts to die down or when they flower they will be ready to harvest. Then enjoy!

firkling...from the verb to firkle... otherwise known as "rummaging","rooting around " or "Scratting for"......... (don't actually think it's a proper word but it's a lovely one isn't it?)
