Cheap cheap cheap!

Ok I was going to get a smart phone but have decided to save money instead.

My current O2100 contract has ended with CPW (thank god). I do contracting work in my spare time so use my phone more now and bills are huge (£70-100)

I need ~300 mins anytime xnet (I use about 100-250 a month) and around 50 sms for as cheap as possible.

I have no problem keeping my handset but I cant seem to find anywhere which just does the contract without a new phone - is it cheaper?

I guess I could always flog the new phone on ebay...

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Would a SIM only monthly deal be any use to you? see here.

  • Or, depending on if you already have Telewest/NTL, is

    http://home.ntl.com/html/bundles/virginmobileoffer.html

    300 mins/300 txt for £10/month.
  • My god! I love you!

I have cable so that offer is available!!! £10! WOOHOO!

However, just got to ring them up tomorrow to see if its possible to transfer my number as I use it for work calls - thus annoying to change...

    Me too!

Ordered online last night and have had email already telling me my new number and free sim will be delivered within 5 days.

I had an 18 month contract with T-Mob which thankfully finishes this month and the best they could offer me was £34 worth of calls and texts for £8 per month, on a year's contract, but I really wanted PAYG. This is the next best thing and you don't have to buy a phone.

    Thanks again simon_hzero!
  • BTW: Yes they allow you to transfer your number, just buy, ring up with PAC :)

£8 a month is pretty good! I presume thats for the same amount of call time. But as you say not being locked into anything is much better!

If you are willing to do cashback deals, Mobileshop, e2save and OSPS all have the Nokia 1600 on o2 400 (400 mins/100texts) 11 months free, 12 months contract - add in cashback from Quidco and you are near 12 months free.

That is a great deal noticed PS (also part of CPW) have the same deal I think the cash back is better £49 for PS compared to OSPS or E2Save hoever OSPS are doing a free Bluetooth headset with orders..

  • Or depending where you live for coverage 3 network has a deal...... £22.50 per month: 600 x network anytime mins, 400 sms texts, 50 video call mins and 50 mms texts. And you can get a free handset of the smart phone era like a nokia N70 (about 18 months since it was released but a beast of a phone).
  • Nah, didnt want a cashback deal becuase Ive been messed about twice.

Seems like the virgin offer was too good to be true. threee attempts to order the deal and nothing. They have really hacked me off TBH.
