Who exactly is making these claims and exactly what for, you mention councils and in your last post you mention Magistrates Courts.
Councils don't deal with no tax, they may deal with failure to display, but DVLA deal with not having tax.0 -
Letters dont mention arrest warrant in next steps, so were do you get the idea there are 2 arrest warrants in existance? If there was you would have the police knocking on your door at about 5am to arrest you.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

My apologies for the late replies i have been snowed under at work, you are correct it is from the HM courts & tribunals service i got confused because when i call i am getting to the council's reception and then re-directed (i guess they are housed together).
Still two different courts can punish me twice for the same offence because they are on different areas?0 -

hi spiro,
i have the two arrest warnings letters that were delivered to me on the 16th of november (issued on the 1st and 3rd of november). When i called them they said that i should ignore the one issued on the 1st but the one issued on the 3rd still stands.
I do not know if you had time to read the rest of my updates but they have said that never received my second correspondence even after me producing the signature of the person who signed for it as i sent everything first class and with the tracking option.
I have dealt with two people so far a lady who has been excellent and a gent that has been condescending and rude to say the least, he asked me if i used the right address and he even debated the existence of my first correspondence to them and after going off the phone for a good 5min he said "oohh here it is". I thought that all of it was electronically done etc.
again thank you all for your help.0 -
Hold on.......... There's no such thing as "road tax" (abolished in 1936 by Winston Churchill), it has nothing at all to do with the council if your car is untaxed, as long as it's parked legally.
You pay your council tax, this pays for the roads!!!
Are you sure its the council? have you phoned using a number other than printed on these letters?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

@spiro
my apologies on the original letter had one more thing as number 6
6) take any further steps as permitted under provisions of fine collection regulations which apply to any other enforcement power of a magistrate's court
so i guess this covers them for the two arrest warnings
thank you again0 -
Have they said what the outstanding amount is for, if the original offence was no tax - correctly called vehicle excise licence, but often referred to as road tax - it may be a claim for the outstanding vehicle excise duty.
After a conviction or payment of the settlement offer for not having a licence, a claim for any unpaid duty from the expiry of the last licence often follows.0 -

Hi rover
I am quoting their second correspondence: With reference to your recent correspondence dated 24.10.2011. I can confirm we did receive your payment on the 03.08.2009 but this offence was from A (where i work) magistrates' court account number---xxxxxxxx. the account number xxxxx, is from B (where i leave) magistrates' court, for no car tax. Payment in full is now due.
So they say it is for no car tax which the fine and everything else was settled immediately after the penalty.
This is why it is so confusing. I have clicked the thank button for all your help0 -
@spiro I have clicked the thank you option for you as well0

It could be that your vehicle was reported on two occassions, once at home and once at work, they would be treated as two offences and may have been dealt with at different courts.0
