I wonder how you would feel if the banks instead made their money by charging you a monthly fee for the prsonal banking services..............................

Wow, what a nation of moaners we are.

With a lot of overly defensive shop assistants.
  • With a lot of overly defensive shop assistants.

Really?Where? Because I'm not a shop assistant if that's what you're getting at. I have been in the past, and dealt with 'overly' grumpy people like yourself, getting stroppy because I've asked if they would like some free chocolate/cashback etc.

Interesting how someone simply not agreeing with your opinion is 'overly defensive'.

And I do think we are a nation of moaners, and not only because of this thread. People will complain about ANYTHING these days. I even believe there was a thread on here with someone complaining about Greggs steak bakes not being steaky enough. I mean REALLY?!?! People really need to get some perspective on life.

Now away you go and read the Daily Mail. Even better, buy it from WH Smith and have a go at the shop assistant for asking if you'd like some £1 chocholate.

  • Secret shoppers are instructed to look out for the staff asking for the extras. If they don't ask, they are marked down and if they do ask, they take the flak from some of the customers. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

(I'm not a shop assistant either)

Is it that annoying and difficult to say a polite "no thanks" or "im not interested" these days.
  • It annoys me that some shops always ask "Do you want cashback". If I did, I would ask for it!.

That's rather pathetic to be honest. All you have to do is say 'no thanks' and that's it. done.

    Stop moaning.
  • For some reason I've noticed it is one particular bank clerk who seems to do this in the branch I usually go to if I have to go to the counter (the others just seem to say 'Is there anything else I can help you with?', which is absolutely fine). In particular she kept trying to get me to make an appointment to have a 'financial review' - not, I hasten to add, because I was consistently overdrawn or any other reason they might have been legitimately concerned. I asked if it could be noted that I really didn't want one - don't know if they actually put some sort of comment on the computer but I haven't had a problem since. (This may be because I always try to avoid getting that particular clerk if I can without making it too obvious!)
