Royal Mail POST STOLEN

Hello All,

I am a student so living away in a shared house. Over the last two weeks my mother has been forwarding my post.

She has tried to send me 4 envelopes containing post and only 1 has been received.

I then tested it myself by sending me a letter to myself in an envelope that you would send a birthday card in and guess what i still have not received it.

I have contacted the local sorting officer and they said they haven't got any mail for me. Also it is the right size to go in the letter box. I have been here pretty much every morning when the post man comes and still no sign.

I have wrote a letter of complaint but no reply.

What can i do?

Its probably been stolen. Without sending it recorded there it very little you can do as far as i am aware. Are you sure that its not being stolen by one of your house mates? try putting a box on the outside of the house, with a key acess (the sort you can buy in homebase) and ask the postman to put your post in there (or call it <housenumbwe>A and have people send stuff to that address. if you are certain it is royal mail then they advise to ring there careline on 08457 740 740 Make sure you follow this up with an email and keep copies of all correspondence, if it is a royal mail employee you may need these.

Perhaps the reply to your letter was also stolen
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

to check if its one of your housemates there is a thing you can do.

i know that card factory sells these wind up butterflys that are basically wound up on an elastic band and once released will fly off. maybe get one of these wind it up place in a birthday type envelope and post to yourself, therefore if it is stolen by a housemate you will know as they will scream when this thing goes off in front of them.

If your mum has just been writing on the envelopes your NEW address, after crossing your old one out, this will generate a surcharge as she has not paid for the redirection service on your student address? I would keep an eye out for a grey card with a "fee to pay" coming through the letterbox, (assuming it hasn't been stolen).... If she has placed your mail in another larger envelope, she may not have put enough stampage on it? Hope this helps?

  • Hi

No house mates haven't been stealing them. I have been there when the mail has arrived. But not mine.

No mum is putting it all inside a new envelope and sending to me.

and has she ensured she put the correct postage on them?
    I assume an A4 envelope

Yes A4. She has been forwarding my mail like this for a while now so i think she has got the hang of the correct stamp now. If not they leave a card or have a record of the mail at the sorting office for me to the extra processing fee. But the sorting office do not have any mail for me.

My mothers return to address is on the mail as well.

Sorry but if you came into the office and asked if there was any mail for you, I wouldn't have checked in amongst the surcharged items. I doubt very much if anyone working in the locker would. If she hasn't used the correct postage, then it's taken out of mainstream mail and has to go to a different department to deal with, therefore it can be held up. It would surprise you how many people just stick a stamp on it, without weighing or checking the size, especially around christmas.

If you feel that you are not receiving all your mail, the only thing you can really do is make a complaint, which you have done, if it continues to happen, continue complaining. RM are not the quickest in the world to deal with complaints, and may start sending test letters to you.

you dont have to explain what happens to me..............
however when items are removed for charging it takes longer for them to get through

She does in fact weigh them at home if it is above the 100g she takes it to the post office. If it is under she posts herself.
