You need to be comfortable giving out your sort code and account number, but that information is on a cheque if you ever send one of those anymore. I've never had a problem with bank transfer and would prefer it over any other form of payment anyday.
Good idea with online banking I would just open an associated savings account and sweep the money over to another account so very limited funds in it and incompatible for direct debits.

There's been some very good advice so far and I can add very little. Personally, (and I am a cautious seller) I list at the lowest price I will accept as clothes can be hit and miss and whe I sell clothes they often go for my opening bid. Untagged clothes must be sold carefully as ebay have some odd little terms and conditions about used items, just state they are fully washed and bagged or something and that is usually fine.
Goodl labels, or at least popular labels like Monsoon might still go as low as 5% of original cost price, cheaper high street labels tend not to sell in single lots, so sell a bundle of the same size and list what you have.
Again personally I ccannot sell without paypal, I probably only have 1 buyer in 100 use a cheque or postal order. None of my buyers have used a bank transfer for months and months now even though my information is available if they want it and is mentioned n my payment terms.

Thanks Soolin
A lot of items would be 50p or £1 at a boot sale, this way is warmer.
Wife has a good bit of Monsoon and Wallis stuff so may have to start these a bit higher.
I will add nochex to my acceptable payment options.
As for postage RM 1st for items up to £32 with proof of posting from the PO any items over £32 RM 1st with recorded signed for, option of SD for anyone who wants it.
How does that sound.I have a cunning plan!

If you need bubble wrap, go to the supermarket. They go through loads. If they're in a good mood they might give you some for free! A penny saved is a penny earned!!
hehe - i use the special delivery bags inside out too.....theyre waterproof.....which is useful at this time of the year....
if you dont sell much then getting bubble wrap free at the supermarket is a good option......i usually need loads and buy mine at svp.co.uk - a big roll for about £7ish (bigger than the £35 roll at shockingly overpriced Staples) plus postage which is a hefty £5ish but doesnt go up much if you buy other items.Stevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -
Quackers wrote:And me. Although I never thought of asking the post office for Special Delivery bags! Do they just hand them over if you ask?
I am able to get bubble wrap from work as we get display items delivered covered in the stuff.
We also get some items delivered in jiffy bags so I'm able to re-use those.
I put small books in A4 envelopes that we've had stuff delivered at home.
If I need a small box I get it from work - I work in shoe shop - they'd give a box to anyone that came in and asked though - we give out loads.
check the RM site and go to Special Delivery and checkt thereStevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -

i wouldnt touch the bank transfer method - there are some dodgy people out there.....you may not have come across them, but will if you def come across them if you sell mobile phones and some other electronic goods.
never use Western union either....dodgyStevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -

You can send items of over £32, just include insurance which is £1 for up to £100 cover and i think £2 for up to £500 cover - however check Special delivery as it is sometimes cheaper and this gives you insurance up to £500 (unless you pay extra) and guarantees next day delivery - also if they dont deliver before 1300 next day - you can get a refund on the postage (lol as if the RM will be honest!)Stevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -
I've just signed up to photobucket after reading your suggestion, thanks for that. So I have done a trial listing and tried to put a pic in with my text...when I get to the review page it just shows up as words, a link not a photo...does this change after listing has been submitted..as i have only done a mock listing i can't submit...hesjane wrote:Personally - paypal is a must option
Lots of good clear photographs if you want to push the price up.
Don't pay ebay all those extra 12p's to put extra photos on - shove them on a photo hosting site like photobucket.com and insert them in your text for free - as many as you want (nice huge piccies so people can see what they are buying)
Good luck
