As Durham girl say - work the postage out before listing! Don't lose out on miscalculated postage and remember to add some on for packaging (it all adds up)

Make sure you get proof of postage or send recorded (if the buyer pays for it).

Postage can be bought online to save time at post office and you can also print off the proof of postage forms filled in with the details of where you sent the item ready for the post office to just stamp and sign (all saves time and time is money!)

Do you just print your postage stamp on sticky labels like they do in the post office?

Will need some digital scales, jiffy envelopes from the pound shop.

If I can do it anyone can :o

It is reall easy & the advantage is that you can get all your listings ready early. Then, as soon as a 1p listing day is advertised you can upload them to Ebay on the 1p day.

Spot on this is what I want, to sit and do them all then pounce on a 1p day.

  • What is the most usual 99p start no reserve?

Unless it's a good dress of the wifes, then maybe start for more.

I get my packing materials free from the Post Office!! Special Delivery bags turned inside out will do the job just as well as normal packing - depending on what you're selling. If you need bubble wrap, go to the supermarket. They go through loads. If they're in a good mood they might give you some for free! A penny saved is a penny earned!!

As long as you dont mind it selling for the 99p & anything else is a bonus then that's what I'd do.

You could do an advanced search on Ebay for items similar to what you are selling - tick the 'completed listings only' box and that will show you what similar items have sold for recently. This is what I do and I usually start my auctions at a bit less than the average price they've been selling for so I'm fairly confident they will sell but also know they wont go too cheaply.

If I'm happy to accept the 99p then I do as I've said above - list for 99p & anything on top is a bonus :)

    I hope that makes sense!!

    Good luck :)
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

I always start at 99p unless it worth a lot more cash. Most listings get up in price towards the end of the auction anyway, so you might aswell save the fees!

Go here http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html to find out the fees ebay charge for listing your items. Always choose the lowest start price possible. For example if you want to start at 5 pounds, instead start at 4.99 and you will immediately save 0.15p. Not a lot, but it mounts up.

    Hope this makes sense!

And me. Although I never thought of asking the post office for Special Delivery bags! Do they just hand them over if you ask?

I am able to get bubble wrap from work as we get display items delivered covered in the stuff.

We also get some items delivered in jiffy bags so I'm able to re-use those.

I put small books in A4 envelopes that we've had stuff delivered at home.

If I need a small box I get it from work - I work in shoe shop - they'd give a box to anyone that came in and asked though - we give out loads.

Oh and I hate paypal  had a bad experience with them and vowed never to use them again, deleted my accout which was verfied.

Paypal (although I hate it) does bring in buyers. Alternative which seems really popular (and cheaper for you as no fees and no chance of paypal ever pulling back funds:mad:) is to offer direct bank transfer. You need to be comfortable giving out your sort code and account number, but that information is on a cheque if you ever send one of those anymore. I've never had a problem with bank transfer and would prefer it over any other form of payment anyday.
