I've just started enveloping myself- I have a tin with all the envelopes stacked - this started when at the end of one month I didn't have enough for my bus fares to work. I thought this must never happen again. I need to work on perfecting the system so this is great advice!!
Thank you, to be honest it's so simple I wonder how it's taken me twenty years to work it out :rotfl: The needs and wants column just helps to clarify whether or not the overspend was frivolous or not and also highlights any deficiencies in my plan. I've been trying to get my daughter to use this system (she's at Uni) but I'm unconvinced she's doing it and my son and his fiancee have just managed their first month without bank fees by using the envelopes so hopefully this will put them on the right track for the forthcoming year :T I'm learning by my mistakes though and give our youngest son his spends, phone money, bus fares, spends and activities money at the start of the month and then he has to budget for himself - hopefully he will then learn how to manage his money properly before he leaves home for Uni (he's 15 at the moment).0 -
Well im back from the docs and I have a massive ulcer at the back of my mouth and she thinks it might be an infection so im on penicillin but under strict instructions that if the numbness gets worse or the penicillin hasnt done anything in 48 hours I must go back to see her.
Its really weird as I can feel my fingers pressing my face, but its like pressing your leg when it falls asleep and the inside of my mouth is like ive had an injection from the dentist :rotfl::rotfl:
Hope you're feeling better soon xxx0 -

I normally do my updating in the late evening once most people have posted for the day so will sort you out a number then my dear.
Everyone starts off with the feelings of guilt and shame and anger at themselves for getting in this mess in the first place but we all then come out of it (most of the time...) stronger and more determined to do something about it. It's what you do now that counts. We CAN do this together xxx
Thanks very much:) have added a signature now which has made me more inspired to tackle this!Pay off debt by Xmas 2012 #172

Just did my snowball calculator, I'd put this off all week. It says my debt free date is September 2013 :-( so maybe I won't be debt free by Christmas 2012. HOWEVER I'm still feeling positive as I can still pay just over half off by Christmas 2012 :-)
Just on trying to sort out my PPI claims so hopefully the bank will hopefully be nice to me and that will help towards my debt.I will stop spending on things I don't need
Lloyds TSB CC - £3577/£3650, HSBC CC - £2425/£2621, VIRGIN CC - £5349/£5405, BARCLAY'S CC - £3700, HALIFAX - £109/£199

Well done to everyone who has been making payments - and keep going! :money:
Thanks to those who commented on whether I should pay the First Direct or the Barclaycard. I'm still umming and ahhing. According to the budget I now have £500 to last until we get paid on 21st Jan (after bills, food, etc) but I still have a couple of pressies left to buy as well as hubby's bday after Christmas, my bday in Jan and brothers bday in Jan too!
Don't want to leave ourselves with no money!0 -
Cant wait for nicer weather to come in, get going flat out working again. Looking at paying off my debts by the end of July 2012 but that means £1900 a month...ontop of saving at least £800 so £2,700 to find before expenses. No problem.....ahem.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.
