The main reason I dont drink is I am too tight to pay £3 for a bottle of sugar with a bit of alcohol in it aka an Alcopop!

Same here. I hope when I finally meet someone they have the same attuide to money as me.

I only had 2 pints tonight and even then felt like one I was just drinking because it was something to do when I chatted with others.

I probably only drink a pint or two once a month though. Rather put it towards the mortgage :D

Hi, I've been following this with interest and I'm still reading.
Please can I be added for £20-25k. I don't know exact figure at mo but know its roughly this much. Would love to clear all by this time next year, but any amount cleared would be better than none.
    Pay off all your debts by xmas 2013 #71 - £210.84 paid (BoM - £-100/130, CC1 (L) £-1831.58/1,866.00, o/d £30 + several others) - Debts paid in full 2013 x 1 :)
2012 paid £1,162.32 paid & 2 debts paid in full

No buying unnecessary toiletries and declutter during 2013!!!
  • The interest goes up to 19% on Barclaycard 2 after June. Although I'm hoping to get this reviewed and it stay the same for 6m or hopefully longer.
I'll have a look for the interest rates tomorrow and give the snowball a go. At the moment it's just odd overpayments here and there of about £70-£150 but by the 2nd half of next year it will be larger payments to clear whole balances at a time. Thank you :)

    Well done :T

£2 payment from me today. Its too cold here this morning. We are going to make biscuits for DD to take into preschool on Monday for her friends and put the Christmas tree up. :j

Just wondering but is anybody else feeling the pinch of Christmas by now? I feel like I'm hemorrhaging money just now...I've done well really having saved up over the last four month but have gone over budget so one job for the NY is to add up exactly how much I've spent and work on that for next year - I'm definitely going to build up a hamper of Alcohol for the Boxing day party although I'll have to store it with my MIL (I don't drink but DH can't leave it alone if it's in the house lol) this year our alcohol bill is around £160..it's a big party. Everything has been paid with cash but I have a target of paying my bank loan off in January which will free up £260 pcm overspending in December just means life will be harsher in January. I am very good at being frugal for 51 weeks a year with regard to our own household budgets but when it comes to presents I really struggle to behave, I've done homemade hampers for my M.I.L and F.I.L because I'd read on here they work out much cheaper yet ours have still come to £60!

Have a good day everyone, my daughter is coming home today from Uni and we're going to put the tree up :)

Ive been really good this year, I have a spreadsheet with exactly how much ive spent on each person for presents, we are going to mums for christmas dinner so ive been harsh with myself and bought no extras other than 2 large tins of sweets (DH has eaten them both already :rotfl:) I will get some crackers, a bag of sausage rolls, some indian nibbles and the usual bread/ham/cheese but nothing else as both kids are off to their aunts on boxing day and mum will no doubt give us a load of chicken and nibbles to take home.
We are also not going to DH's parents over the christmas period that costs us £100 in fuel alone, and then the shopping trips as they live in Cardiff :o We will go into Cambridge after Christmas but as its just us im hoping we wont buy a load of rubbish, and just the work clothes DH needs :o

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning all!

Credit card bill came this morning :( and I'd actually gone over my limit by £18:eek: have paid £253 off it straight away:). I do have £100 which goes into a savings account, usually comes straight back out though, supposedly for emergencies. If it's not needed this month and I hope it isn't, I'll use that towards my bill at the end of the month. So my new debt total is now

    :T #012 £720.09/£6583 :T
    :j:j:jThat's 10.9% paid off :j:j:j

£4 this morning to the cc. Plans for today include taking photos for ebay (anyone have any suggestions when is best to next list stuff? Don't mind waiting a few weeks), alter CV and think about job possibilities, make a good start on the uni assignment for which i had 2 weeks extension yet haven't done anything and it's due on 29th! That is all depending on whther I get called into work or not but fingers crossed not again :o

    Happy Saturday all! x

You may be lucky and list things on a 1 day or 3 day auction and still catch the Christmas post!

I would state in your listings that you will be able to post for Christmas and maybe some last minute purchases will be made.

Post Christmas prices generally fall on e-bay as there is a flood of 'unwanted' Christmas presents that are being sold
