Have you got any fixed term loans? i.e. ones that you can't make overpayments on unless you pay off early in full?
I have a loan that is £180 a month that finishes in june, its got so little time left that overpaying it wouldnt actually take any money off
I think its just the amount of debt versus my payments, if I take off the 2 overdrafts my DFD is March 2013, and tbh they are both less that the £1000 that ive put but I dont dare take the payments off my target as DH is still without a job and I might have to use them if the mortgage starts back up and he still only has a bit of temp workSPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -

All this scrimping and saving has the potential to wear us down. How about once in a while, we allow ourselves a treat - the challenge could be 'treat yourself one day this week for as little money as possible'. It would be a little concession that some aren't allowing themselves at the moment, and it's open to a bit of creativity with the money saving aspect.
Chocolate is banned, I know all you ladies are partial to the stuff...
I am trying to make every other mini-challenge a rewarding one. So the other week we had the timely challenge, where you set a "spending money" threshold and then deducted when you went over the time allocation. At the end of the week you could treat yourself. Unless you're like jakes-mum who has no idea what to buy herself and insists on putting towards debts
This week is aimed at cutting down on our tums & purses before the big gorge next week. But then I'll try to think up a really good "treat thyself" for next week, being Xmas and all that.
Great idea though Pedro, I truely belief that I need to reward myself in order to beat this debt as it is so depressing. I might fine the OH everytime he tells me I'm skint. I'm not skint, I'm just on a budget and trying not to be frivolous. teehee.
I've just been MSE in a way and ordered some glazing film for the single-glazed windows. There's a huge draft in the room so really hoping it works, housemate says it has in her room.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

You're not no - and I aim to beat both you and mf0u1098 to the finish line (we all have similar debts but I'm a bit competitive!).

Hi everybody,
my daughter paid some of her debt back to me today so rather than squandering the cash it's allocated to go into the bank in the morning to go towards reducing my debt.
So my new totals are

Hi, I would love to join this thread if its not too late.
My total is £11.578.09.
I am going to try my best and pay as much as I can by xmas 2012Taking it one day at a time0 -
Small confession, have moved the money that had paid off my lloyds overdraft into my current account as have had to lend OH and sister money, meaning I don't have enough to cover bills. I also snowballed last night and it works out better to pay off my freemans before lloyds anyway. Please can £400 be removed from my total. I feel really bad about this, but they were both so broke and I will be getting the money back in the next month.
Have gone and paid off £100 from freemans though to make up for it and the money I've lent will go towards this when I get it back.

Kerri, you can tell me to mind my own but shouldn't OH's sister be fending for herself? I know OH's are important too but you've got to concentrate more on yourself. That's my motto and you can tell me to shove it if you want!!
OTOH I sold 7/10 items on ebay last night and made £50!:j:j
ETA: Everybody paid too!In debt no more!0
