  • Thanks, I actually manage with the 39p stuff from one of the cheap oversea's type supermarkets (you know the ones I mean) they do a small mutlipack for £1.55 I'm thinking I might get 1 of those a week and then when I'm out I'm out.

But seriously it's silly how much we spend on this stuff!!

  • morning people

I don't know why but i'm feeling a bit low today :( whether it's because even though I've come back here and I am now actively fighting my debt and I realise that it's going to take years to get myself out of it I don't know.

I have a history of depression so it could be anything, I didn't sleep that well last night which isn't going to help. I had to much running around my brain :o I need to find ways of upping my income, I don't want a evening job, I'm tired enough as it is and there isn';t any over time available in the job I do.

So I guess I'm left with Ebay... it should be easy to make £10,000 on Ebay right :rotfl: But going to try and think positive, every little would help.

Does anyone have any experiance of selling homemade items on Ebay? I make gift boxes etc which I love but to be honest not sure if someone else would buy them. Would probably be a trail and error thing I guess.

    Anyway, See you all later

  • Hi Pea, sorry you are feeling a little glum, sometimes I think it is peaks and troughs with debt busting as you have initial elation of all the things you are going to change for the better and then the realisation of how long it will take dawns. Stay strong, it will be so worth it.

I don't know about eBay but we live in a village where there is always fetes, village markets etc, it may be a bit late now, but this time of year there are so many Christmas fayres where I think gift boxes would be quite sought after.

I think ebaying anything that isn't tied down is most peoples initial stab at extra income. :D

Aww pea hope you start to feel a bit better soon.

I'd def give it a try selling the boxes, can't hurt to try. I know you say you're too tired for a second job but have you tried or considered mystery shopping? I'm doing quite alot at the moment but do as much or as little as I can find the time/energy for and the money is most definitely welcome when it arrives. Other than that its the usual set of surveys etc which are slow.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

  • Hi PeaBody,

Im only just starting out on my DF Journey, but reading your diary so far has been interesting. I'm sorry you are feeling so low, I am currently having that feeling of Euphoria where I think that I amfinally getting my head out of the sand and doing something positive. As much as I am very new at all of this, my thoughts with how long its going to take to get out of the debt is that ,had you not tackled or began to tackle the problem head on you would never have got out of it anyway if that makes sense. We have been told our will take 20 years, and thats only as long as the interest is frozen ( we are in the early stages so nothing been set up as yet) . But as scary as that is if we had carried on as we were, other than the fact I think we have popped our clogs with exhaustion next year because our debts are so huge I think I would have still had them whilst rocking back and forth in my rocking chair at the grand old age of 90 ! At least this way they might be gone by the time Im 60 !! Anyway enough of my rambles. The boxes sound a great idea, youve nothing much lose really, if no one buys them then you are back to where you started. I agree with Dogs Life also, fetes might be worth a try. I painted stones with sparkly fairies on them a few years back, they really werent up to much in my opinion, but I took them along to my daughters school fete and made about £60 in one night. What have you got to lose ?? Anyway I hope you feel better and more positive soon. I will subscribe to your thread to see how you are doing .

  • Hi Pea, feeling better?
It is scary when you think about how quickly the debt mounts up without you really noticing, and then the realisation that change has to happen over a long time for results to materialise. The key thing to latch on to is that you have made a start down the right road. If you have a bad day, put it behind you and start again tomorrow!

I'm trying to think of ways to get more money too. I've never tried ebay but lots of friends have, so how hard can it be? I also like the sound of your gift boxes - this is the time of year to give it a go! If nobody buys them, then you've got a load of boxes to fill with cookies or small bits and bobs to give to your friends and family this year. I'm going to try a thrifty approach to Christmas - making things for grandparents and my Mum, who will probably appreciate it more than people I work with. For them, I'll just get token things - put anything in a nice box and it makes it more special! You should definitely look around for local craft fairs / school fetes and things like that.

Good luck, and start tomorrow with a fresh outlook.

  • Thanks Guys

I'm feeling better today, I think I just let things get on top of me sometimes.

I am going to hit Ebay, firstly though I need to remember all my login and password and try and sell everything I don't want or need. As I'm a bit of a crafter, I thought I would go through the things i do have and see if I could ebay them off in lots of packs, because as with most hobbies I've go through phases and there are things I've not used in ages.

I also have a stock pile of clothes I was going to slim back into and haven't :o So I'll go through them as well and put the better quality things on once I've given them a wash.

We also have some old German tankards which Mum has said I can have a go at selling in the past, so I might have a look at them too.

But have just found £12.09 in my paypal account :D:T I have no idea how long that's been there :o:rotfl: So I have a start to my paypal debt busting.

    So jobs/things for today:

Drag sorry bottom out of bed (How I love my laptop)
Have 1 load of laundry done by lunchtime
    Clean bathroom
Have a go at handpainting candles (christmas present if it works, will post picture)
    Finish off another gift bag/box.
Watch SWC (sexy work colleague) play footie :D
And try to stay completely positive

    Oh and have a NSD

  • Morning

so how did I get on yesterday:

    [/STRIKE][STRIKE]Oh and have a NSD
    [/STRIKE]

Very good, but I really need to do some housework today and another load of laundry,

Unfortunately today will not be a NSD as I am off out with a friend for a couple of hours this afternoon, I have a christmas card to get and we will probably have afternoon tea.

The candle is working really well, but is taking a little longer than I thought it would. I've made a start on 2 more boxes/bags for christmas and even made an attempt at making some candle holders, but that need a lot more work.

I have some left over glass ramkins, but I can't think of how I can recycle them. The paint I use isn't water proof so they can't be washed hmmm may have to have a think.

Oh and I have finally logged into my bank (always a little scary) so I will update my sig with acurate figures.... a little worse that I thought it was :( but oh well I've faced it now hey.

CC is actually at £11,069.74, but they have added interest which is why my old figure is wrong.

Anyway just a little more debt to fight :o
