Sky signal

Im not sure if this is in the right place.
I have sky and need to get the signal for broadband from the broadband box to the tv. The distance is not far but its poor by the time it gets to TV
Any ideas.
I have the router on the 1st floor and the tv on the groundfloor, I want to access sky anytime.
I `ve tried putting the router by the TV but then I cant get the signal upstairs to the PC.
Is there anything I can buy to help. I`ve seen the things that plug in the power socket at both ends but are they any good?
Or is their something else. I dont want to run any cables from PC to tv as it would be practically impossible
Thanks for suggestions in advance and I apologise if I posted in the wrong place

An ethernet homeplug would be your best bet,a friend of mine uses them with his BT Vision set up & finds they work ok.0

HI ya you can actually do it wireless i believe you need to link your box to the router and set up then as wireless then you can bring your sky box downstairs again and it will work so they say I am going to do my tomorrow!
go to www.sky.com/getanytimeplusnow and you can choose your set up option and will show you how to do!0 -

I agree with Fred, homeplugs are the best bet, Sky will sell you a Wireless adapter if you want to be wireless.

Homeplugs are cheaper though.

Homeplugs are the best bet in this case - they're simple to use and effective. Though if you have a spare router and some tech-savvy, you could set it up as a repeater.

Homeplugs all the way! I used them for ages.0

WARNING on the home plugs. Make sure you only have one ring main. If you have 2 and the 2 plugs in question are not connected to the same one you may as well plug your RJ45s in to a few slices of bread.
Have you checked if your router is a "G" or a "N" (easy way to tell, if your router is silver and black its "N" if its dark black and have lots of little dimples its "G")
"N" routers have a much better signal strength and could fix your problem. Sky sell them for £350 -

Homeplugs will work on two different ring mains (mine are) as long as the rings are connected through the same consumer unit.0
