ASDA home shopping - continued mistakes and problems

I have given the asda online grocery shopping thing a fair chance but have to say I won't ever use it again.
Every single delivery has had replaced items and most of the time the replacements are completely unsuitable (e.g. instant coffee instead of filter coffee). They have not stuck to their delivery slots, they bag items excessively, sometimes one small pack of peas in a whole carrier bag on their own etc.
I have been unable to return unwanted items to my local Asda as they are not the delivering store, even though they also stock the items on their shelves. The reason I wanted to use home delivery is that I don't have time to make phone calls and visit stores to sort out wrong orders.
I have decided not only to stop using the home delivery service, but will be making an effort to avoid Asda where I can.
I find it a poorly organised system and the training given to the picking staff must be rotten.

To be fair to Asda they will take items back from you at the door and you can elect to say no replacements, done it myself in the past.0

I have to agree. I always ticked accept substitutes but often none were offered. If they were made to my shopping it sometimes meant offers no longer worked and I had to sent the rest of the deal back. The dates weren't very long - 4 days on organic milk. I changed how I shopped to get longer dates and products that would be likely to be in stock but in the end gave up.
The good side to all the substitutes was I could do a home shop for over £100 get it delivered for free using their card and by the time all the substitutes/short dates had gone back it only cost me £70 or so. Still not worth the effort if I then have to go out just to buy milk.0 -
Asda were 2 hours late delivering my shopping the other night. I phoned up and was eventually phoned back, the driver couldn't find my house so had given up and returned to the store (!) he didn't bother to phone to ask for directions (I don't exactly live in the middle of nowhere). He eventually came back out and all my frozen stuff had defrosted. Managed to get delivery charge refunded, all frozen stuff refunded and £5 gift voucher.0

I don't like Asda home delivery either. They ALWAYS earmark an extra payment and sometimes it means I can't access my money from the lcoal cashpoint, only specific nationwide ones, and having a toddler and being on a limited wage I can't afford to not be able to touch £100! I have had other peoples shopping, and stopped all replacements as they are rubbish and they obviously give no thought. They have often been late too.
Tesco on the other hand always just take the one payment, and their replacements are always better than what I ordered! For isntance I ordered a 2 piece gift set and they didn't have it so they put in a 3 piece at no extra cost! I've also had free samples put in a few times.
The dates on Tesco were always good too - Asdas were often to be used that day, so I would get a 7pm delivery and be left with stuff to be used that day!1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
50p: Christmas presents £3.50
£2: holidays £2.000 -

I agree with you about Asda and the extra payment thing. They did this to me last Christmas when I had a big order coming from them on Christmas eve - they earmarked 2 lots of £150 and it meant that there was no available money on my card PLUS they cancelled the delivery because of the weather and only told me at 3pm on Christmas Eve, which meant I had no shopping AND no means of getting any! They said that they couldn't cancel the debit instruction, and the bank said that they couldn't release the money unless they did. I was so angry with them, but I have to say that the manager of the local Asda allowed me to come into the store and collect my order which they re-picked for me - it was a nightmare though as the Asda is 6 miles away and the weather wasn't great, and I didn't get my shopping home until after 6pm! I got a £20 giftcard for all the messing but I would NEVER use them again!Jane

The problems I've had with Asda home delivery:
1. Totally useless substitutions - battery eggs for free range and meat quiche instead of vegetarian
2. Very short sell by dates eg next day on 2 x2L milk
3. Weighed items picked old/bruised eg parsnips wrinkly and sweating (yuk)
4. No substitution for essential items - the loaf of bread I ordered wasn't available so they didn't send any!
5. Returned substitutions not refunded.
6. TV listings magazine not available to order?
7. No offer dates shown on website so often back to full price when delivered eg milky way funsize on offer at £1 but charged £2.38 on delivery.
and this is only on 3 deliveries while the £5 offer was on. Like the OP I won't be using them again and will go back to Sainsbury who are excellent.:)0 -
I also have had problems with the money thing on Asda and Tesco, they both do the same thing so now I don't order from either unless (A) I have double the amount in my account, where I don't need to touch it or (B) I use a pre-paid card where I have lodged the amount to cover it,this seems to work OK for me. I use a Paypal card for the pre-pay but there are others you can use as well.0

Isn't there an Asda_Company_Representative watching these forums and able to offer us some form of comfort?0

I've not tried Asda, but can recommend Ocado. They have 1 hour delivery slots and have never been late for me yet. Also, because they can't resell any food once it's been on the van, if you refuse a substitution they will refund your money and tell you to keep it anyway. Only ever had sensible substitutions (eg trout instead of salmon) AND they text you in advance to tell you what they've had to substitute.0

I ordered 6 bags of woodpellet based cat litter from Asda to save me trudging to town once a week to pick some up. When the delivery arrived, they had substituted it for the normal cat litter! Yuck yuck lol. I will have to use that for the month now instead of the original litter ordered. I could have returned it but then I would be stuck in the same situation as before with going to town etc.
It is a pain.Competition Wins:
