Since talking with my line manager at work she has advised me to join the credit union, which I have emailled and they have sent me an application and said on joining they can give me a £2000 loan, monies to be paid from wage and in event of leaving the nhs trust I can still get the deductions straight from my wage!

This was exactly what I was going to suggest, but you beat me to it! I had a bad credit history in the past and needed £500 a couple of years ago, everyone else would've turned me down but the Credit Union didn't even do a credit check. They usually ask that you have 10% of the loan in savings with them though. Mine deduct directly from my pay so they have their guarantee.

Good luck, hope you get the loan. I know exactly where you're coming from living out in the sticks!

    Hi All!!!

My name's Tommy and I'm a newbie on the forum here and look forward to the wealth of advice from all on here!

Ok here's my situation, Im in need of a £2000 loan to cover the cost of putting myself through my driving test via a 24 hour intensive learning course which includes both tests, a cheap run around and abit to put towards insurance. The reason I need it is that I work for the NHS and have recently gone under a restructure and they are moving my office miles away and I just can't get there via public transport even if had my license and car it would take ages in the mornings but I have had an email from a recruitment company offering a job with much better pay/prospects than my current role the only catch is I need to be able to drive, I really want this job as I do think I will have a career for life but theres just this obstacle in my way.

Now I do have bad credit, I was very silly in my younger days but now I have alot more mature outlook on my finances, guts me I was so stupid with money when I was younger. I have tried a few places but flat refused and I dont have any living relatives to help me out so basically its just me on my own but with the xmas period coming up and only just managing living alone I just havent got that kind of money at my disposal.

The compant are not looking to set up the office til feb so they told me if I can get sorted in that time they will look at giving me that role.

Like I said this job is alot better paid than the one I have now and would see me financially secure so paying back would not be a problem and dont want to just let it go.

    Any advice???

    Thank You

    Tommy

Do they do Wheels to Work scheme in your area? - you could get a moped for a minimal weekly value, and I think they help put you through your CBT until your passed.

Begging family/friend to take you out and pop you on their insurance. That way you can have unlimited driving (well depends how much they'll take you out) and it's less costly than an instructor.

Good Luck, sounds like you may have found a solution though. Although passing a driving test isn't always so straight-forward. xx
