While everything is up in the air - and from what you're saying with all the other employees and meetings, a February move doesn't seem certain - why not get on the phone to a driving instructor like now, and get as many lessons in as you can before and around the Christmas/New Year period?“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing at all.” - Roosevelt0

Dont forget your insurance will be a considerable amount on top of the car!!0

These things haven't existed since the 70's. You're dad used to talk about them and you've heard the phrase on TV, but they certainly don't exist nowadays. You may work in the same sector all your life, but there is no such thing as a job for life.I do think I will have a career for lifeHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Your wanting a loan before you have even started the job let aone getting confirmation of it. You understand between now and feb next year things can drastically change, for better and for worse. Why not look for a job closer to home and save up for it and IF this job comes about then you buy a runaround whether 2 wheels or 3 or 4. It is of course entirely your choice what to do.0

You want a loan for a job you 'might not' get. And for a driving test and theory test which you 'might not' pass.
Any loan company looking at this will think you 'might not' pay it back if things go pear shaped.
Add that to a poor credit rating and I'm afraid you haven't got a hope in hell of getting a loan. Sorry."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Regardless of whether you agree with the advice given, you won't get a loan anyway. Even if you didn't have problems on your credit file - the fact that you don't have an ongoing long term job will mean you wouldn't be accepted - and yes lenders do ask on the application form and if you didn't tell them about the issues with your current job that would be considered fraud.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Definitely would advise against getting a loan, far too many "maybes" involved. However if being unable to drive is reducing your employment prospects then get the ball rolling by taking driving lessons, say once a week for example. If you can't afford the lessons then chances are you would struggle to meet repayments on your proposed loan.0

Is there any way your parents could help you out with these costs, and you can set up a standing order to repay them? It might be your only option.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244
