Bad Credit loan desperatly needed!

Hi All!!!

My name's Tommy and I'm a newbie on the forum here and look forward to the wealth of advice from all on here!

Ok here's my situation, Im in need of a £2000 loan to cover the cost of putting myself through my driving test via a 24 hour intensive learning course which includes both tests, a cheap run around and abit to put towards insurance. The reason I need it is that I work for the NHS and have recently gone under a restructure and they are moving my office miles away and I just can't get there via public transport even if had my license and car it would take ages in the mornings but I have had an email from a recruitment company offering a job with much better pay/prospects than my current role the only catch is I need to be able to drive, I really want this job as I do think I will have a career for life but theres just this obstacle in my way.

Now I do have bad credit, I was very silly in my younger days but now I have alot more mature outlook on my finances, guts me I was so stupid with money when I was younger. I have tried a few places but flat refused and I dont have any living relatives to help me out so basically its just me on my own but with the xmas period coming up and only just managing living alone I just havent got that kind of money at my disposal.

The compant are not looking to set up the office til feb so they told me if I can get sorted in that time they will look at giving me that role.

Like I said this job is alot better paid than the one I have now and would see me financially secure so paying back would not be a problem and dont want to just let it go.

Any advice???

Thank You

Tommy

It doesn't sound as if it's definite you would get the role. In which case you would have a £2k loan and no income to pay it back. That's not a place you want to end up in.

I'd suggest saving hard and looking at a more commutable role in the interim.

Does depend on what you mean by bad credit, but if you can't get a loan from your own bank, then you are probably going to stuggle. There are no bad credit loan lenders around these days. There are high street banks, but if you can't get credit with them then there are only really payday loan companies and scammers around.

But if you can say whats on your credit file then people might be able to better advise.

Why do you need to be able to drive - what will you be doing? would a small motorbike or scooter be an option, much cheaper to buy and to get you through a test etc.
Are you sure this recuritment agency is offering you a job - or just suggesting you apply for it? have you met who would actually be employing you or been through an interview yet?

Bad credit loans at anything approaching realistic rates are the stuff of pure fantasy I'm afraid.

You're more likely to come across brokers, crooks (same thing), scammers, criminals and outright liars.

Save a few hundred squid and get a banger and see how it goes.

  • no these guys want me in the role its just that I dont drive which is what I need for it to visit clients.

Either way getting my test sorted and having a car would open up loads of employment opportunities for me as I live up in the sticks and public transport is very dire. That is why Im in a mess with my current employment as I live 10 min walk from where I work atm and they are moving my office miles away.

I wouldn't consider the intensive driving course. It would be foolish to spend £2k when you have no firm job to go to, and know that you will be losing your current job.

When does your current job end (move)? are you getting a redundancy package at that point? how much will that be?

Have you had any driving lessons before? can you not just afford conventional lessons from your current pay?

  • well they havent discussed any redundancies yet as everything is up in the air with the move because nearly all of my office cant get to the new office they want us to move to so its endless union meetings. They have discussed suitable alternate employment but everything is moving to the new office so nothing is going to be suitable.

Ive never had lessons before no, just thought with it getting you passed in 5 days I could get it done and be good to go with my other job offer in the new year.

There is no guarantee you will pass the intensive course - and you could be left with a £2k loan, not being able to drive and no job and no way of meeting repayments.
Given that you've said you had debt problems in the past surely you don't want to do the same again - and potentially wreck your credit file for even more years to come

why does it HAVE to be a car? getting on 2 wheels is a hell of a lot cheaper,
if its just for visiting clients a car really isn't essential, well depending on what
    sort of job it is.

You can do a CBT for less than £100 over much of the UK, and certainly no more
than £150, insurance would be dead cheap, under £200 for a new rider on a cbt.
A used 50cc or 125cc scooter would be cheap also.

If 2 wheels is a viable option there are even organizations around that will pay for
your CBT, lend you a bike and the safety gear for a small sum a week.
  • no and I understand what you're saying but when I have an opportunity to get a job which nearly doubles my salary and then i earn commision on top too, I want it and all what is stopping me is me not driving. As I said before where I live the public transport is dire even to the town its crap so getting on the road is priority and asap.

The amount of jobs I can do but cant apply for because I dont hold a license is shocking!
