Retaining plusnet email access after terminating broadband ?

  • If you wanted to change to a web based email provider I know that gmail will allow you to collect mail from other boxes. From experience I can tell you that this does work with Plusnet mailboxes :) You can also set it to send from different addresses as well, so replies will still come in to the Plusnet address (and be collected by gmail).

    Hope that helps,

    Hi Matt,
I've had a search and cannot find how to do this. Do I access the plusnet mail from my gmail account or do I action it from my plusnet account?
Thanks - and sorry I don't get it!

In Gmail, click the 'gear' at the top right and go to Mail Settings - Accounts and Import tab - Check mail using POP3 and Add a POP3 mail account you own

    Username: your plusnet logon username
    Password: your webmail password
    POP Server: mail.plus.net Port: 110
Leave a copy of the retrieved message on the server. Tick Yes if you want to leave your messages on Plusnet and also get them through Squirrelmail. (NB eventually your Plusnet mailbox will fill up and Plusnet will drop incoming mails without telling you)

You can also decide if you want to apply a default Label to msgs you get from the Plusnet account, or Archive them without putting them in the Inbox.

This will only pick up new emails as they come in; existing messages will have to be transferred with IMAPSize or similar.

In Plusnet you can forward emails for particular mailboxes or addresses to your gmail account through Manage My Mail Redirects.

Thank you so much. I have gmail configured to fetch mail from plusnet, but how do I then configure Outlook express to fetch the plusnet mail from my gmail account without mixing them with all the gmail emails.
I have tried to fill in all the boxes but am getting en error message in OE.
    Sorry to be a pest!

    Hi there,

If you're going to keep both going separately it'd probably be easier to use Outlook to collect both separately, rather than getting them all into gmail then collecting them from there and separating them again (though you could probably do this using a message rule if you wanted to - just set one up so that any that have been sent to youremail@yourusername.plus.com go into a separate folder).

Best bet would be to configure both accounts - gmail and plusnet - separately in Outlook Express and stop the gmail account collecting from plusnet. That way both will be collected into separate sets of folders.

    Hope that helps,
