Good luck with your hospital diet, Cherry Jack, How much milk do you need to drink each day and is that it? Just milk? No food at all?

The penny I have put to my arty collection on my mantel piece and have written "would you throw me away?" in tiny writing on side as a reminder to me to be more frugal.
So my question to you all is - was this a bit of extreme frugaling? I was very careful to check contents etc or should I have just left the bags and put them in the nearest bin/taken to tip? What else have people found "dumped" and taken back and found them useful?[/QUOTE

Love the idea for the penny debbie. We have a picture frame that has two halfpennys in that says ' Two halfpenny's to rub together'
I wouldn't have done what you did regarding the bags I have to say. I'd be paranoid there'd be needles in or something! I have phoned up the council when bin bags have been left in the back street and let them move them but it sounds like you had a good haul :) And very thrifty too as well as you being environmentally friendly by keeping them from going on the tip :T

Blimming heck Cherryjack what an amazing post! Well done on being so focussed. I need to take a leaf out of your book :D

Not been on here for a few days due to laptop problems which needs repairing or a new one being bought. Popped on a friends so I can just update though not much to add. Plodding on and actually being quite good these last few weeks. Just being a little more mindful when it comes to spending.
If I don't post for a while due to the laptop getting sorted, hope everyone keeps well and happy frugalling.
    Take care

  • Hi All
Gone a bit mad spending wise over the past few weeks, mainly to buy some new clothes as I don,t have enough clothes for the week now that I am back at school! But I have had a wee look at my financial plan tonight and now that I will be getting an actual wage:jat the end of November (I hope!) and for the next year at least, I have made a plan to:
    1. Set up an emergency fund of £6000.
    2. Start saving for the Dream house. The current £240 isn't going to buy much:eek:. Will do this after we have the emergency fund and use Cash ISAs to start with.
    3. Plan and save for holidays and bigger expenses such a new cars as both cars are getting on.

To make a start I have opened a new easy access savings account tonight with IF and am now just waiting for the paperwork to come through. I was previously using my local CU but cannot get into it as easily now that I am working full time.

Feel that I am more focussed now.

Food wise this week I am going to make a Spag Bol sauce using up some carrots, courgette and mushrooms that are left over from last weeks recipies. That and a slow cooked beef joint we got reduced in Asda for £6.90 with HM roasters and stir fried cabbage, again left over from last week.

Still plodding along. Need to look at some of my spending. Need to cut back with some of it. Have managed to do some decluttering recently. Started a permanent job 2 months ago.

Hugs to anyone in need of one.

Thank you everyone for the lovely messages :) im now on day 11 of the milk diet lol.. oh gosh what a week the first was .. living hell for me as im such a food lover. The diet is upto 4 pints of semi skimmed milk ( i can only manage 2, 2 stock cubes, 1 sachet of sugar free jelly...vitamin etc) please anyone reading not that you would but dont try this for a quick fix you have to have tests before you would be allowed to go on this and be monitored carefully. My guess is after day 2 you wouldnt want to do it anyway lol... ive quite a few tears this week. Lovely lovely friend sent me flowers , and sent me a message saying she is getting me vouchers for Christmas so i can use them in the shops ive never been able to shop in next year... so sweet!
Frugal wise i am a hoarder, but you know what its great because i have lots of stuff to part with and sell. Just need to get the old motivation up.
