  • Regarding the binding carpet idea we have had it done and it is brilliant such good value.

I'm doing meatballs in HM sauce for supper with spaghetti plus a fruit flan using a reduced price flan case and the rest of the ingredient are stockpiles from a previous AP order. Yum.

Still haven't got back on track with budget. I now have a huge amount to ebay which I must get on with.

  • And when you dip them in tea they all taste the same :D (not the cakes of course)
We get our mushy peas from Ald* They are 4p also on offer at the moment, normally 8p and they taste exactly the same to me as branded mushy peas.

Spent Friday evening making things that we could eat out of what I thought was not a lot!. I managed to make a chicken curry, Korma one out of the breast of the roast chicken that we had left over, and the BF and I had that for tea last night. I also made Blackeye beanburgers, using some very old APp Food stocks, and I had one for my tea with a toasted cheese roll that was lurking. They were really quite good, and DGD and I will have them tomorrow.
I did also make a rhubarb crumble out of a tin of rhubarb and some oats, flour and sugar. The crumble was tasty, but I didnt have enough rhubarb. Going to serve it with icecream anyway.
I really should be doing more and more of this kind of cooking. I always used to, but with ill health I got lazy.
My food shoppings are coming in 3 different deliveries. I did my months shopping spreading the load on 3, to get the best deals. Saving some £60 on the offers etc from what I would have spent if I had only shopped in one shop, and not downsized, and savvy bought etc. But it took me ages to do. Spent most of thursday evening doing it.
My aim is now to only buy the fresh that I have too for a month. (I know I am mid month).

Hi mooloo - so did you manage to sort out the problem with BF?
  • Hi folks. Last week of the month for me just now as OH gets paid on 25th. Haven't been particualrly frugal (understatement!) recently so need to get my head in the game again.

    Food wise:
Today - Pork and Apple Roll with carrot and swede mash
Tomorrow - Steak Pie with Potatoes and peas (have over 2 days).

    Hi all,
just checking in after lurking for about a year since my last posts here!

Hope all are well. Sticking to my principles about avoiding upgrading my computer. In fact I've kind of "downgraded" it to use some older software and can now run useful stuff you can't get new versions of. Very fed up with all these keeping up with the Joneses types who want the very latest hardware and software when it isn't necesay.

Need to make economies like this as I've not always been very MSE during the year.

Good luck to the regulars and newbies alike:beer:

Aye, as you do, or more like, as we have to! :)
Been home from work last couple of nights with a really bad headache!
Going to have a relaxing hot bath to give painkillers a chance to work. Hate taking tablets but if I don't catch it in time it will turn into a migraine.
Hope everyone has a great weekend

  • hey, been a bit all over place recently.
me n the bf are working things out... i got the sack. i forgot to lock one of the many doors and the place was open all night. thankfully nothing was taken.
so spent 3 hours at the job center to 'sign on'. and made to feel worthless while i was at it. applied for 6 jobs in two days, will be a few weeks before i hear anything.
don't know what i am going to do about the mortgage, its 13 weeks before i get any help with that, yet if i was renting, they would pay all of the rent straight away. madness.
    sorted out council tax.

need to fix my CV as it isn't 'jazzy' enough for today's employers apparently.

I've been keeping up with my son's bento style lunches (some more on my blog). he loves them.

hope everyone else is doing good :) nearly Halloween :)

Hi All - been lurking for the past few months & not posted. Zagubov just bought a new desktop PC 'cos old one went into 'Menopause Mode' & wouldn't play any more! I was originally looking at a laptop & then realised there's no way I'm going to lug it round with me so went for the type that has all the 'gubbins' built in to the back of the screen (it was cheaper too!) Just finished loading free software (OpenOffice for documents & Mozilla Thunderbird for emails (from Techie forum) so I'm very pleased that I didn't spend out on software too.
Just picked the last of the apples - DH will core & peel while I slice & blanch in the microwave. Hopefully there will be enough to last till next year. Veg patch has been a bit of a wash out this year (pun not intended) I've managed a few onions, some green beans & about 5 sweetcorn - raspberries are doing well though, still picking some very day. Very interested to see the comments on keeping veg in the fridge. Someone on here said about wrapping cucumbers in foil in the fridge - it really works, they stay lovely & crisp for ages
We have a robin in the garden & he's been singing away - really makes me feel that Autumn is here - wot happened to summer:(

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
