Congratulations DL on the grand baby :-)
Whilst down there, I also became an Auntie, my sister had a beautiful bonny boy, named him Rio.
Thanks Lola and congratulations to you as well on becoming an Auntie
I like the name Rio, sounds very exotic.
I'm in bed feeling jiggered. Listening to the lovely sound of Nick Drake on good old y*utube
Miserable weather again. I'll have to conquer my fear of flying and jet off to somewhere warm...have flown twice before being married but not since. I come out in a cold sweat just thinking about it
Had a look on the Amazon box set thread link and I have to say it's got me thinking about dare I say it...Christmas! Definately going to get organised well before Christmas this year so I can just enjoy the whole lovliness of it.
Off now to have a look on the Christmas threads on here

Christmas will soon be here! I was thinking about it the other day - I'm going to try and be organised too
The weather here is awfulit's so depressing - it doesn't feel like it's summer at all. We've even had the heating on
as it's been so cold in the house, which is bad as we were trying to get our heating bill down, but it's not going to be easy at this rate
Hows everyone else doing? Nothing much to report in the SF household atm...Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Not sure if any of this will cheer you up!slowlyfading wrote: »Christmas will soon be here!

Same here ..... sick of being wet all the time- honestly, I'm going through loads of clothes & as for muddy dog towels :eek: - you have no idea - on my 2nd load to wash this week already

Mine was on for an hour or so on Sat as I was frozen (got really wet & cold when I took Maisie for a walk & never really recovered!).
Was thinking yesterday that the house is feeling really ..... damp IYKWIM - think it's all the washing constantly hanging around - at least in winter the heating is on (downstairs which keeps the chill off upstairs) but wondering if it's cause it's not on & it's taking ages to dry that's making it feel like that.
Not sure what to do for best ... put heating on to try to dry washing quicker (and help with damp in house)?
May have to put this lot of dog towels in the TD :eek::eek: (honestly - I only used it twice during the winter to dry my towels) as really no-where to hang them!:eek::eek:
Was just checking my gas/elec bill at the weekend & only just getting to break even point this month, so really need to use as little as poss over the next couple to build the winter buffer IYKWIM - really can't afford for them to put it up!
SF ...... as ever on this site ..... you're never alone!:D
Positive - the peas are doing really well and I'm not having to remember to water them every evening!:DGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

:rotfl: :rotfl: thanks rising - at least I know it's not just me! I know what you mean about it seeming damp - we've got washing hung all over the place, which is another reason why the heating is on, as nothing is drying very easily due to it being cold!
Positive for me - don't have to water the garden... :rotfl:Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I was freezing this morning but I refused to put the heat on, my lunchtime we were all in bed watching a DVD even no I'm sat with a blanket round me, you'd never believe its July.DEC GC £463.67/£450

I too have had to resort to putting the heating on - tried to hold out but its no use being cold AND miserable lol I really don't know what the weather is plaing at atm - heard one old girl at the supermarket saying tha she thinks its down to al those 'metal mickey' things up in the sky doing evryone no good at all and messing the weather up. Bless.
Saw something on tv about lots of fruit & veg growers crops being ruined so that will probably mean more expensive food to come in future. It really sounds so depressing but to quote Monty Python sketch ' Always look on the bright side.........................
((hugs)) to all those who need them and hope evryone can manage a nsd/frugal as possible dayx0 -

I tend to lurk rather than posting but have fallen off the bandwagon recently so I thought I would pop by and say hello
We are now both clear of our BRs and are both working so it is now time to get down to it and rebuild what we have lost so (sorry but its a list of what I plan to do please feel free to comment )
So far I have
Got round to joining the company pension scheme
Started putting regular ammounts in my ISA
Not saying no to overtime even if my feet are whinging
Starting menu planning and doing an online shop when needed (and only when delivery is free) I find I spend much less if I don't go in the supermarket)
I need to
Start cooking cheaper meals
Cooking from scratch more
Rebuild my credit rating
Get my housework under control (my house always seems to be a tip these days)
Get fitter (we both do WW but there is a way to go yet and hopefully some of the above won't be such hard work if we were fitter)
I know these aren't all frugal aims but I work on the theory that if I get my life more under control my future will stand more chance of being safe and comfy
Anyway enough of my waffling
I hope everyone is keeping safe and dry (its extremely windy here and dry but doesn't look promising)
Have a good weekend moneysavers
Cuddles:)
This is really frugal. I'm currently suffering a routine and cooking crisis which basically means chaos and chaos means SPENDING MONEY YOU DON'T HAVE!!!....
So yeah...baby steps and don't worry how it sounds you are being frugal....think there's a thread on here for daily frugal tasks - it's here[/u] for today....
Hope that helps..hugs

The cheap g'grocers was brilliant, huge bag of veg for a quid (didn't get but made mental note) apples 50p for 6 large Jonagold, Sharon fruit 6 for 50p, plums 50p for a huge punnet, doughnut peaches 6 for 50p. All was class II but all perfectly edible. Peaches and Sharon fruit are gorgeous & plums so sweet.
Got lots of nice bits and pieces in P'world / P'land, inc. some bits to put aside for Christmas. 3 lovely JD Williams tops originally £20, £23 & £40 (!), for £3.49 each in X Catalogue shop. The £40 top is gorgeous. This shop is cheaper than the charity shops. I've never paid £40 for a top, the equivalent for a suit, yes, but that's different.
Now I live in posh land so we don't have x catalogue shop. I thought you might live in fife (which would be travellable) but no...you live in Darlington....pants...you get all the bargains LOL

Hello all
I've been very much off of the frugal wagon for a few months now with my head in the clouds because of my wedding last month.
Back in the real world now and I haven't been keeping proper records of my spending so am going to work on a month-month basis as far as possible for the rest of the year, if that sounds ok? I guess it's more about the frugal way of life rather than the actual spends and dates, right?
I hope everyone's well. As you can imagine I have thousands of missed posts so probably won't find time to catch up but hope that I'll be back in the loop soon enough.
Big love
