    Hugs Lolalemon.
Erme, I suffer from Nightmares most nights. Its really disturbing and sometimes I think I am worried about going back to sleep.

I am frustrated that my excel spreadsheet that I spent yesterday morning updating will not open. Either Excel is not responding, or the file is corrupt. Grr. what a waste of time.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Sorry I basically posted and then disapeared, I was reading a bit and trying to catch up with everyone, then last Saturday my aunt died due to cancer, the funeral was Thursday past, she had a very busy send off, the chapel was full, and its a big chapel. That same morning, my uncle, her brother in law, who also has cancer, was rushed into hospital, and needed a blood transfusion.. he got out yesterday, and was rushed back in today. I was told earlier that they think he would pass on today, as of yet, I haven't recieved that dreaded fone call.

Other than that, i have caught up with a lot of family, lots who travelled miles n miles to come back.

  • Hi all,
My frugal achievements have been a bit hit and miss lately. I have tried to use the washing line and not the dryer where possible and I've frozen surplus veg rather than throwing it away when I couldn't use it. I've even made butter out of left over cream and used it to make cakes for the school fair. The whole cream shaking process is good for the bingo wings and surprisingly easy. One other sneaky frugal move was to find a M of Bride outfit that I liked in C***t and bought it but then found it with 20% off in H of F so I purchased it there and returned the original one saving £50 in total.
I've got shopping vouchers to use for A**i and Mr T's this week so £75 of shopping for £65. I shall write a list and stick to it hopefully. I hope everyone has a good Easter weekend.

    Hi all

Sending hugs to those that need them

Budget gone a bit AWOL this month. Popped to local m and s ad they had reduced their sale items to really low prices, so got some bits for Xmas as some items I buy ever year anyway. Also have quite a few babies due in family this year so got some bargain baby clothes for gifts.

Payday next week, glad I'm working all weekend!

Hope you all got nice plans for Easter!

So I've gone AWOL from this thread for a couple of months but have still been reading and have been updating my spreadsheet religiously.

In february I was complaining I had no money because car insurance, road tax, MOT, home insurance etc. was all due at once. Somebody gave me a great tip to put away a fixed amount a month specifically for the purpose of paying these bills when they're next due in Feb next year. I've managed to start this and already feel less stressed about things.

I've come in over budget on a few things (mainly social things and those dreaded impulse buys) but have done really well on other things, mainly grocery shopping. I've really benefited from meal planning and cooking from scratch and I've literally halved the weekly shop (now spending an average of £20 a week and that includes the occasional cheeky bottle of vino - on offer of course!).

Got a long way to go but I'm in a much better position than this time last year thanks to you kind folk on these boards sharing your wisdom.

I've just managed to replace both rear tyres on my adult's trike. I usually do my own replacements but two at once is a bit daunting with my arthritis. However, buying my own and fitting them is a fraction of the price (less than half) that the local bike shop charges. I had fancy white wall tyres previously, but one of them had actually split along the white/black rubber divide. The inner tube was exposed but somehow I'd avoided a puncture.
So no more fancy tyres, but very rugged ones from Wilkinson's that should last me for a good few years.
The trike itself saves me a small fortune, for anyone who cannot ride a two - wheeler bike or has difficulty walking they are a really good idea. From mine I get exercise and have no need to use taxis for shopping or appointments locally, or to visit friends.
Mine has a luggage pannier on the back enabling me to carry a week's shopping at once - it's also carried home a coffee table, ironing board, PC, television and several hi-fi units in its time. Yes, I get a few smiles and odd looks when I ride it, but I also get independence and good exercise.
