Is Soreen Malt Loaf healthy?

Even if they follow government guidelines they'll be hideously out of date in terms of what they preach on nutrition.
I can't believe they actually inspect lunch boxes these days. :eek:0 -

Does the school insurance cover their staff giving medical advice?"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

What did they actually say to her becles? I've been here long enough to know that this is the school that you used to have similar problems with with the boys.
Depending on how crabby I was feeling I'd be tempted to write 'If the school lunchtime staff have a problem with Charlotte's lunch can they address me, as she is 4 and doesn't make her own pack up' Is this the school that thought it acceptable for her to spend most of nursery session eating so she was so full she wouldn't eat her tea?

To be fair, there are kids that go in with lunch boxes full of crisps and chocolate, its pretty decent that theyre bothering to check, at least someones looking out for the kids
Damned if you do etc...0 -
I expect they class it as cake as it's packed full of sugar. In order of volume, the ingredients are:
Wheat flour
Water
Raisins
Starch
Sugar syrup (inc colouring E150c)
Malt flour 5%
Malt extract 4.5%
Dried Whey
Vegetable fat
Salt
Yeast
Preservatives E282
It's 65.6g carbs per 100g so pretty stodgy stuff.
If your daughter is also having fruit and a yogurt, then it's quite a lot of sugar when also combined with the malt loaf.
Of course the school should just give a list of what they deem acceptable.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

I love it too, and think it's a fine choice for a packed lunch.
It's not good to make a little one feel guilty about food choices at that age, especially when you can assume a four year old isn't making her own lunch. they should have really taken it up with you if they really had an issue with it.
It reminds me of the homemade guacamole saga, does anyone else remember it?0 -

Fructose is not digested as easy as glucose.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”
