I wouldn't recommend M&S Classic. It's mostly made of artificial fibres, especially the jumpers and cardigans, which makes them look cheap and feel cheap..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Hi TM, just thought you might like to know that Pure Cashmere's sale ends shortly, there's some good pricing on there. That red dress you liked is reduced to £34 (or £51 in black). I went a bit mad after Christmas and have bought a pile of warm stuff from them! Have been glad of it when hanging out of the back door for a smoke in the wind and the frost!
Hope you are doing OK, have been sending positive vibes your way and hoping things aren't getting on top of you. Cyber hugs from sunny Liverpool, Maggie 0 -

Thanks Maggie, what a sweetheart you are. I'll pop along and check the reductions out. Much as I'd love the dress I really don't have anywhere to wear it, and neither red or black are my colours (give me lilac any day
) so I'd rather spend the money on something I know I will use.
Thanks for the positive vibes, I'm doing OK. Probate has been granted and pensions sorted (almost). Am having a bit of hard time with some HMRC forms and a recent experience of hanging on an 0845 number (which my provider charges 10p a minute for) for 20 minutes with no contact with a human has left me quite mad. I think it's very very unfair to have 0845 numbers for HMRC, The Pension Service, Benefits, etc., particularly in bereavement circumstances when it's obvious so many phone calls have to be made to sort things out. Beggar the phones for any queries, I shall do it snail mail now but I really do find the forms unclear in parts e.g. where you have to provide information on income - it's not stated whether they mean gross or net income. It's obviously very easy for someone who has dealt with it before but for a first timer it's quite daunting.
Hope things are going OK with you, I need to catch up on the reno thread and see how everyone is going on.0 -
I assess groups doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions and so tend to buy comfortable walking/hiking clothes. If you go through Quidco, Cotswold Outdoor and Craghoppers often have some good deals. Not cheap but value for money. Recently I've been getting e-mails from Craghoppers offering some excellent stuff at a less exorbitant price. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

All these catalogs are good.. and free returns are very useful too But my advice would be, if you get something and it fits.. pay for it that month, most have hidden fees and if you chose the pay a % monthly option you may find your self paying more in fees and interest than you thought !0

I'd never buy from Craghoppers again. Sent a very faulty item and refused to refund the initial P&P. Lady from customer services was very rude and said they don't refund P&P meaning that it costs you £8.50 to return something.I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be0 -
I've landed here by accident as I was searching Ambrose Wilson !! I would strongly advise AG|AINST using these lovelies. Their customer service is beyond mockery and they are fighting tooth and nail to avoid refunding my confused mother-in-law the £400+ they ower her...Tuesday_Tenor wrote: »(Female tenor, by the way! 52, also rural; in a notable M&S desert! Check out their online shopping).
Try googling these. All have catalogues you can request a copy of:
Witt International - wide range mostly classic; a few trendy twists. Fairly cheap. Reasonable quality.
Cotton Traders - casual stuff. Good value.
Land's End - mostly casual.
Ambrose Wilson - wide range from trendy to fuddy-duddy.
La Redoute - majority trandy and smaller sizes. But also have more classic sections/collections, incl. larger sizes.
For shoes:
Hotters. Expensive but EXCELLENT value - last for years and years! Comfy. I very seldom buy from anywhere else.
