Downloading to MP3 Problems

Just got an MP3 player. Installed software; Sony Sonicstage. The software's installed ok, but when I plug the MP3 player into the USB port the software isn't recognising it. In my "computer" it doesn't show either. I've given it plenty of time to charge up and I'm using XP. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Sounds silly but have you turned on the mp3 player?

You can always drag and drop from Windows Explorer without the use of Sonys software.

Which mp3 player is it? J Davies your suggestion isn't silly, I'd give that a go. Most mp3 players should still connect and power up automatically when connected anyway.

  • Has the USB port been used in the past?

Maybe try another port by unplugging your printer and trying it in there?

the mp3 players are great but the sonicstage software is terrible.
have you tried opening up sonicstage and see if the player is recognised in there. oh and you can't just drag and drop the mp3's you have to use the sonicstage software to transfer any files. such a pain.
  • Yes we have tried theses options and its not being recognised in sonicstage itself.Any ideas!

had a look about but couldn't find anything definite. i've got a different model but if theres a reset button on the back of the mp3 player i'd give that a go as well as restarting the pc. sorry couldn't be more helpful.

this seemed to work on a guys sony camera was the same prob as yours so maybe worth a try. uninstall the sonicstage software and restart the pc. dont plug the mp3 player in and reinstall the sonicstage software.

heres a link to the latest version http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DNA/sonicstage/sstage_dl.asp?l=en

then plug the mp3 player in.
