company tried to do me over

i need some big advice


in september i handed my notice in , i gave the work 6 weeks notice in my letter but they couldnt enter it on there system until 4 weeks of my finish date, things have changed and i withdraw my notic(they never entered it on there system) the office told me to wright a new notice out when im ready to leave, i told my ops manager it should be the end of november when i go. today i get called into the office and say your last day is the 28th november, i told them i didnt put my notice in, but they said i gave a verbal notice to my manager, i was like !!!!!!, i need some advice can they do this?

also when i withdraw my notice a week later they advervised my job,

can they do this?

    can they do this?

    Yes. You do not have the right to withdraw a resignation without the employer's consent. Unless you can negotiate anything different, your original resignation stands and they are quite entitled to act upon it.

    does your contract say notice must be in writing?

    but the notice must have been withdrawn or the op would have have left last Friday as that is 6 weeks from the last day of September
  • in my staff handbook it does say managers decrection for verbal notice, they scraped my writen notice before they could enter it on there system and said just do us another one 4 weeks before you decide to leave

    who really gives a verbal notice? IF they wanted to get of someone they could just say 'oh yeah you gave us verbal notice'!!

    I don't understand, you told your ops manager it would be the end of November. The 28th is the end of November.

    thats what i mean, , they have employed somebody to take over my role but they dont have any written notice that im leaving . verbal notice what the hell


    ive been there 6 years and ive bent over backwards for that company but they dont see all that

    So let's get this straight. They are not relying on the written resignation, but on the verbal one they say you gave to your manager. So how do you say you withdrew the verbal resignation?
  • you handed your notice in
    you withdrew your notice
    your manager asked when you were leaving
    you said 'end of november'
    they've told you that your last working day is 28th November

    so what is it you're complaining about?

    i spoke to my manager and asked if i could withdraw my notice she said thats fine when are you looking on leaving i said around novemeber (i understand i said that) but surely a written notice is more solid as proof, it could be my word againt theres?
