UK PAO Leeds

A parking ticket was issued on 22nd September by UK PAO Leeds for a car parked in the Arndale Car Park in Headingley. On the advice of some of the forums I have read I chose to ignore.

On 27th October the Parking Collection Services issued a notice to owner and final reminder for £120.00.

Again on the advice from previous forums we ignored this demand.
Plus items which were featured on Watchdog advised against paying the fine.

No contact has been made by the registered keeper of the car to the UKPAO Leeds

Today a letter has been received from Debt recovery Plus Ltd demanding payment within 7 days.

Any advice you can offer would be gratefully received as the legitimacy of this particular UK PAO Ltd in Leeds seem to be questionable.

Thank you

Private Parking Company + their tame "debt-collector" = ignore. That's all you need to know.

Don't forget that debt collectors are not bailiffs. They are just private individuals with no special powers.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Yep, still ignore. You are confusing (as they want you to do BTW) debt collectors with Bailiffs. A debt collector is just a company who is asking you for money. They have no legal powers and no power greater than anyone on the street to get that money. This is all part of the pressure of the scam.

They might phone you up if they can get your number, but just continue to ignore them

They are not going to take you to court and until they do, know one is going to turn up on your doorstep.

Trust us... this question gets asked all the time and the answer is always the same... ignore!

Check out the letter-chains in the top thread 'PPC letters, what to expect' then ignore them all:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2214803

The DRP letter-chain is on there listed under another PPC so have a look and see what will come next.

Also read the sticky thread 'welcome, please read before posting' if you have not yet seen the Watchdog clip on there.

    :)

  • Thank you for your quick response.

so even though the notification from the Debt Recovery Plus Ltd states "recovery, investigation and bailiff services" - they still have no powers.
They threaten to contact their solicitor and commence county court proceedings if no payment received within 7 days.

They possibly do offer Bailiff services as well, but they can't perform that role without a court order and direction from their client.... which they don't have and are likley to never get because that would mean taking you to court... which they rarely do.

Again, all part of the scam! Are you getting how and why this works now on 65% or more of people! Do you think they have maybe being purposely vague about them acting as a debt collector or a bailiff in this case... of course they have.

Finally, if they were so sure of a rock-solid case against you why have they not already appointed a lawyer and taken you to court then?

Have you had them reduce the offer back down to the previous lowest amount yet? That is normally their final letter... you are almost at the end of the scam. Just hold out and stop worrying!

Edit: just to add, you have hit the nail on the head in your post... threaten is all they ever do!

Yep, as you will see on the top thread that's a standard letter and nothing actually happens. They are not acting as bailiffs here as there has been no Court case; they are acting as debt collectors (pen-pushers).

I think your post crossed with mine so hopefully you will have happily watched the Watchdog link and checked out where you are on the letter-chain by now!

carolyn,, relax now, chill, feet up,, absolutely nothing will/can happen to you as a result of this unenforceable invoice, dont fall into their trap of succumbing to the harassment/pressure/intimidation,,please trust what we say,,,,ignore.
  • 9 days on from first letter from Debt recovery plus Ltd - their second letter has arrived. This one threatening to take county court proceedings. Also advising if the case reaches court the outstanding amount will increase as they would seek to recover the principle sum (£120) - interest at county court rate which is currently 8% per annum, £30 court fee to issue, £50 solicitors costs on claim and £22 solicitors costs on entry of judgement.
Also advising a CCJ may affect credit rating in the future.

Presume the advice is still to ignore.
