Jada - the deal for the chocolates ended yesturday, they are back up to £5
.
I am doing cello cones with sweets for DS birthday so have been sweet shopping alot lately.
I was a little dissapointed with the Haribo tub from Tesco at £5 down from £10, as it is just a tub of the small bags, and they seem quite empty. I wish I had just gone back to Asda for their large bags of haribo http://groceries.asda.com/asda-estore/search/searchcontainer.jsp?trailSize=1&searchString=haribo&domainName=Products&headerVersion=v1&_requestid=67486
It works out loads cheaper - £1.99 for 700g in that bag or £5 for the 750g tub. Fuming at myself for not reading it properly before buying .

https://www.halfcost.co.uk , they have a huge pound section and it's fab, you're sure to find something there. Free delivery over £20 too.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

Great minds think alike was going to suggest Halfcost, I did it for our school 3 yrs on the run and the 1st time, it was just a class, great as got some bargains at our local market, then 2 yrs was whole of nursery and infants, and each class had to have the same in terms of girls and boys, and halfcost couldn't fault.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Fantastic idea, my kind of treat. I love to see children learning craft skills, stories read etc. A group of friends and I decorated the corridors and small classrooms at church many years ago. We created a grotto. One of our best decorations was donated/lent to us by our local dairy. They let us have use of the foil waste from Milk bottle tops. It came on large rolls and we hung it from the ceilings. Lights were then aimed at the foil, my husband is an electrician, and it created a lovely effect in a plain cream corridor.
The only condition on using it was returning it to the dairy so they could recycle it. We decorated a few rooms with different themes eg the space room has a tailors dummy dressed in silver to be an astronaut. This was a good few years ago so children less mature than these days, it was magicalrachsecret wrote: »Hi,
I am the Head of a school and last year we were short of money to take them to a panto so did something we called our 'polar express'. We had a song on a powerpoint we showed in assembly which was interupted mid flow by father xmas (local teacher who we had filmed) who welcomed the children to a special treat-told them we had our very own reindeers who would guide them around the school. He introduced the one at a time and a teacher came in dressed in brown leggings with reindeer headband and t-shirt with their name on ( Dasher etc).
We split the children acorss school (200+) into 'trains' and they spent the day visiting a carousel of activities:- Mrs Chrstmas' kitchen where they decorated gingerbread with Mrs C. (local Greggs donated 200 gingerbread)
- Elves workshop-card making with elves
- xmas past traditional carol singing, hot chocolate etc
- a visit to santa-the infant hall was set up like a grotto
- Crimbo Bingo-christmas themed bingo
- Christmas story land-staff member in role telling festive tales
Hope this helps other schools with ideas to make Christmas special for their pupils. It was a very emotional experience that the children still talk about. Not sure how we can top it this year!Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
Found a site yesterday doing clear plastic Christmas baubles (Baker Rose) - that you could put your own stuff in or decorate - under £4 for a dozen - and you could have a 'decorate' afternoon before they took them home.
They could be painted - have sweets in, or just add tinsel or even pics of the child - or cut-outs from old cards.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0
