ideas for £1 gifts for each primary school child?

Hi all
I have been given the job of organising the gifts given from the PTA to each child at our primary school.
We usually spend about £1 on each child (its a small village school) and to avoid arguments usually the kids in each age group get the same / similar gift.
I would prefer to buy these gifts online as i live in a rural area and have no shops nearby!
So has anyone any ideas of what website to look at?
I have looked at Baker Ross - but am unsure about giving craft kits as the kids usually open the present there and then after the school party and want to play with it then. I fear the younger kids would loose the bits from a craft kit before they got home!
any ideas appreciated.

hi
thanks for suggestions so far...
i have looked at yellow moon, and baker ross (which i think are the same company maybe?) a craft kit might be ok for the older ones, but not sure what else from these companies - the proper toys are more expensive eg £5 upwards (but i have got lots of ideas for my own kids now:j) and the other stuff is small plastic 50p stuff....
i had thought of books but am worried about getting the reading ability right for each child...there is such a vast difference in ability in each age group...
any more suggestions welcome.... i will take all the suggestions to a meeting later and probably end up doing a mixture of all!
thanks

A good website to try is www.toys-to-you.co.uk as they have good quality gifts and if you order grotto toys they have free gift wrapping service.

I know you said preferably online, but if you can get to a Homebargains store they have lovely books at the moment for 39p each. They had the following: Thomas the tank engine, Postman Pat and Little Miss, at my local store. They normally retail around £1.99. Might be worth a look.
Or Online try Red house books http://www.redhouse.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/qs_product_tbp?storeId=10151&catalogId=18201&langId=100&productId=222668
the above is £12.99 for 24 books - age 7+

I think books are always a good choice, as even if the child can not yet read them it is nice to snuggle up with mum or dad for a story.

Will probably get completely shot down in flames - but a selection box?
I know it's really un-PC to encourage children to eat ANYTHING with sugar in it but would it really hurt, just for Christmas ?????0 -
