A fine would be lucky. It's more likely to be a term of imprisonment. My signature has been removed by the authorities. If you have been affected by the issues raised in this signature, please contact the Action Line on 1-800-THEY-NICKED-MY-SIG.0 -

It would be a jail term for whoever the Moneylaundering Reporting Officer was at the building society. My signature has been removed by the authorities. If you have been affected by the issues raised in this signature, please contact the Action Line on 1-800-THEY-NICKED-MY-SIG.0 -
It is also a criminal offence not to include yourself on the Electoral Roll! All too often such people have something to hide. And if you cannot produce a Council Tax bill either, that is bound to set alarm bells ringing!
I can tell you that Nationwide are very careful - they are a Building Society and exist for their members and protect their interests! For example, I received a call yesterday because Nationwide were concerned at 'unusual transactions' on my credit card account - two small payments followed by a much larger one! I immediately allayed their fears but I was grateful for their dilligence!
So, if you too want to be a member, just remember that Naionwide has to follow in-house rules and external legislation I am sure you would be the first complain if, by not following rules/legislation, Nationwide lost you money! You can always take you business elsewhere if you want to go to another financial institution who may not be so careful with your money; even though, by your own admission, you have enough bank accounts already!0 -
Don't know if this applies in this case but maybe banks and building societies are starting to get wise to split bankers. i.e if a customer is opening an account and perceived to be chasing a certain benefit and not using the account as their regular account then the bank/bs may not be too helpful as they won't make that much money out of the customer?

So are the banks and building societies there for the benefit of their customers or just to benefit themselves and their shareholders ?
I personally think that many banks are bigger thieves than the thieves in prison.I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.
Fortunately I have three bank accounts already so as far as I'm concerned Nationwide are the loser.
People who try to show them in a good light most likely work for a bank so I don't really count their opinion as valid.
Where would they be without customers.....nowhere,perhaps banking people should remember that.
And of course most people in the UK have never had good customer service from a bank so they don't really know what to expect,it's an alien concept to them.0 -

Did you ever think they were there for the benefit of the customer? Banks are commercial organisations who are profit driven.
Fortunately I have three bank accounts already so as far as I'm concerned Nationwide are the loser. - but what have they actually lost? How much money would they have made out of you?

I don't work for a Bank (I used to - I admit that freely) I'm trying to make what I feel is a constructive comment - nice to know how much you value it:pGwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -
Nationwide is not a bank, it has no shareholders.
How do you know that most people who agree with them work for a bank? You could be right, but I doubt it.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
Nationwide have been 'my' Building Society for more than 30 years and I have always had good service (! must be one of the minority then), not once have I had a problem with them. You got good advice in post #2...why don't you take it, or if you are so unhappy with Nationwide don't bother opening an account.....end of.
...and before you ask/insinuate, no I don't work for a Bank or Building Society.0 -
When I first used banks in the early 70's the service was much better than it is now.I also know one or two people who have made a career in banking and they say the job is nothing like it was when they started 25 years ago, much worse. They say that working as a teller is the pits and you are treated like dirt. They also agree with me that good customer service is now virtually non existant.I know one girl who did it for quite a while then left to have a family and then went back. She lasted for about two years it was so awful. It was a constant sell to the customer sell to the customer sell to the customer, get them to buy our products. The customer is thought of as a zombie to generate profits for the shareholder, nothing more.0
