Fine. Then I shall revert back to paper billing.

I'm just counting down the days until I'm out of contract and can be rid of BT.

BT sent me an email this morning saying they were changing me to paperless billing. So, like you, I've opted back in straight away paper bills. Want to get something for the £13.90/month I'm giving them.

At least they've told you. I've got nothing - the first I heard was just now via the MoneySavingExpert twitter feed.
Were they just hoping to sneak a little extra on my bill?

And for those of us on Monthly Whole Bill Direct Debit, that means BT will now have to change from sending no paper bills to sending 12 bills in the post each year.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Line Rental Saver is definitely the way to go. It's a good deal when you consider that you can have inclusive Evening and Weekend calls, and Caller Display is included too. Plus BT can't block providers such as 18185. You still have to have paperless billing to qualify for it.

If for some reason anyone doesn't want to pay for 12 months in advance, though, I can't understand why anyone would pay BT's full line rental cost when there are much cheaper providers around.
  • I'm now very angry!
I got a phone call off BT last week to say that because of the price increase on December 3rd they were giving me free evening calls as well as the free weekend calls i'm already getting.
The guy on the phone promised nothing else would change and I checked with him that all my voicemail and direct debit and no paper bills discounts would continue.
This is incredibly frustrating I think I will now be cancelling this and moving my phone to Sky.
Hopefully I'm still within my 7days cooling off as I believe it was tuesday they phoned.
BT you have lied to me and I am not happy about your sneaky ways of getting my trapped for a year then trying to get these things through just after the 7days cooling off period!!

If anybody's like me then we use our mobiles more than the landline, and although we need our landline for broadband, I can sort that with mobile broadband and ditch BT altogether. Not had the letter yet (only heard this from MSE today!) so will wait and see. More than one way to skin a cat.......
