Sorry but I still don't understand what the issue is. You put a time limit on how long each party gets to leave feedback. When that time limit expires then the feedback is sent. If one of the parties has failed to leave any, or couldn't be arsed, tough !!!!!!, they had their chances, they wasted them. So then the scammer receives 10 negs and the buyer's receive nothing. At least it would put a stop to the tit for tat retaliatory/unfair feedback.

Yeah, that sounds alright, took 4 posts to get a proper explanation of your idea though :rotfl:

Well you reckoned you had it all worked out so I was awaiting your reasoning, but alas, it didn't come!

One of the biggest complaints I notice on this site about dodgy sellers is

".....but when I bid, his feedback wasn't as bad as it is now!"

In practice, any time limit before feedback was posted would have to be pretty long to allow for delays in the post, time for buyers and sellers to resolve any problems and replace lost items, return faulty items and replace, try to sort out disagreements, etc.

If I was a scammer, I think I'd be rubbing my hands with glee to know that whatever I did, it would be, say, 21 days from the sale before any negative feedback could show up against me.

And if I was the scammed/aggrieved party, I'd want other buyers to know about it ASAP.

Is saving a minute number of "retaliatory negs" really worth giving scammers a 3 week feedback-free window of opportunity?

I've never had a neg or neutral in over 400 transactions, either "real" or in retaliation, and maybe I might feel different if I had, but at the minute I'd rather argue for Ebay being more willing to pull unjustified feedback after looking at the individual circumstances, rather than making genuine feedback wait ages before it shows.

Starlit, just ignore him. Don't reply or acknowledge the email.

If he leaves you a neg or neutral, just respond factually and dispassionately.

    Begging for feedback is so…….ughhhh.

A bit like “Was I good tonight?”.

PS, I don’t have to ask. I know I was fantastic as usual.:D

Fay, I don’t think it sounds all right now.

I don’t agree with simultaneous feedback even with a deadline as that is just a licence for the scammer to get in, run his scam, con a load of people and bail out before the negs arrive.

We should all be able to use feedback as soon as we realise something is amiss. The risk of retaliatory feedback is just an inherent risk of an otherwise very effective feedback system.

As I took your first post at face value, quote: 'both the buyer and seller submit feedback at the same time' it was extremely hard to interpret your theory in the way you now say you meant.

Next time I'll interpret your post liberally, try to guess what you mean, and hope to be correct. M'kay?

That's pretty much what I was planning to do.
I just wasn't sure whether I was being unreasonable, but I guess it doesn't really matter anyway.
    Thanks for the replies.

I sold a top up voucher to a newbie with a zero feedback rating, he paid straight away, within 5 mins of his payment arriving, I sent the code for him with an e-mail receipt, the receipt came back within another 5 mins and I waited for my feedback and waited and waited, I am not really that worried with a rating of over 750 and was prepared to forget it. Now the newbie has got in touch saying he wants to sell a few items and has found people don't want to buy from a seller with a zero rating, so please could I hurry up and leave my feedback !!! I politely suggested if he was pleased with my very quick delivery, he should leave it first, then I will leave mine, so far, I am still waiting, flippin cheek !!

 So knowing that your buyer was very happy - by your own admission above - why did you not leave him positive feedback?

Yet another perfect example of this pathetic tit for tat "I won't leave feedback until it's been left for me" rubbish. Why don't you people just get a !!!!!!! grip man.
